Hordeum jubatum
This visually attractive and striking species naturally grows on sandy soils, especially where it doesn't face too much competition from other grass species. It is a native wild plant of North America. Thanks to its ability to self-seed, it is now found almost worldwide in regions with mild to warm climates. Gardeners and florists are definitely captivated by its appearance. It has awns up to eight centimeters long. Fluffy green and later beige inflorescences with a purplish tinge elegantly sway with the slightest breeze. It brings an element of movement to both bouquets and flower beds.
