Panicum virgatum
A perennial grass native to the North American prairies. Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) is very adaptable and long-lived. It adds clear structure to flowerbeds while also acting as a softening element, especially after its veil-like flowers appear above the clumps of leaves. Strictum is a tall, upright, and broadly clump-forming variety that turns a bright ochre-yellow in autumn. It was bred by Karl Förster and remains popular for its qualities, both as a solitary plant and in groups as a visual screen.
