Hairy melic grass (Melica ciliata) grows wild on sunny and warm stony hillsides. It blooms as early as May to June with creamy to silvery-white panicles, which turn gray as they fade, harmonizing with its grey-green leaves. Valued by florists for its early blooming and usability both fresh and dried.
