Scabiosa ochroleuca
Yellow scabious is a native wild species that will bring lightness and delicate beauty into the garden. It naturally grows on sunny rocky hillsides in sparse stands, where more massive plants do not compete with it. Thanks to its origin, it is very undemanding, loves full sun, and can easily cope with poor, well-draining, and sandy soil. It tolerates drought excellently and reliably withstands even severe frosts. It forms tufts of grey-green leaves, above which pastel yellow flowers bloom tirelessly from June to October. They perfectly complement drought-tolerant perennials and perfectly suit containers on sunny terraces as well. The plant does not suffer from diseases or pests, its flowers are edible and act as a magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. Although it belongs among short-lived perennials, on a suitable site it easily self-seeds, so it will not disappear from your garden. If you like creating bouquets, you will appreciate its firm stems with a length of thirty to seventy centimeters when cutting into a vase, where they will last fresh for several days. It doesn't have such a great effect for drying; it will make you the greatest joy fresh.
