Scabiosa caucasica

Caucasian scabiosa is a charming perennial that grows in the wild on mountain meadows and rocky slopes of the Caucasus or Turkey. It thrives best in full sun in well-drained, loamy, or sandy soil. Once established, it becomes an undemanding plant that can handle even severe frosts. From June to October, it produces charming flowers on long stems that attract bees and butterflies. A surprising bonus is that these flowers are edible and you can decorate summer dishes with them. Scabiosa is a perfect perennial for cutting. If you harvest it when the central florets are tightly closed, it will last up to ten days in a vase. The faded inflorescences, which can be easily dried, are also highly usable. The Fama White cultivar stands out with its pure, snow-white shade, bringing lightness and freshness to the flowerbeds. We will deliver an already mature seedling in a pot, which you just need to transplant into the flowerbed and enjoy its beauty.

Scabiosa caucasica

The abundantly blooming scabiosa will brighten up any sunny garden and bring a lot of life to it. Its original home is the mountain meadows and rocky slopes in the Caucasus and Turkey regions. As a result, it is very hardy and revels in full sun in well-drained loamy-sandy soil. After transplanting into the flowerbed, the seedling will quickly take root and form a vigorous clump. The plant is completely undemanding, does not suffer from pests, and reliably attracts bees and butterflies with its flowers from early summer to autumn. It will fit perfectly into both rustic and modern gravel plantings. If you like to decorate your home with fresh flowers, scabiosa will certainly thrill you. Long and sturdy stems carry large cup-shaped flowers that are made for a vase. Harvest them when the centers are just beginning to open, and they will bring you joy for about ten days. The interesting faded inflorescences are also excellent for floristic purposes. They dry into a firm shape and enliven any dried arrangement. The Fama Deep Blue variety stands out with its unmistakable blue-violet shade of flowers, and moreover, it offers an unconventional bonus in the form of edible petals.

Scabiosa ochroleuca

Yellow scabious is a native wild species that will bring lightness and delicate beauty into the garden. It naturally grows on sunny rocky hillsides in sparse stands, where more massive plants do not compete with it. Thanks to its origin, it is very undemanding, loves full sun, and can easily cope with poor, well-draining, and sandy soil. It tolerates drought excellently and reliably withstands even severe frosts. It forms tufts of grey-green leaves, above which pastel yellow flowers bloom tirelessly from June to October. They perfectly complement drought-tolerant perennials and perfectly suit containers on sunny terraces as well. The plant does not suffer from diseases or pests, its flowers are edible and act as a magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. Although it belongs among short-lived perennials, on a suitable site it easily self-seeds, so it will not disappear from your garden. If you like creating bouquets, you will appreciate its firm stems with a length of thirty to seventy centimeters when cutting into a vase, where they will last fresh for several days. It doesn't have such a great effect for drying; it will make you the greatest joy fresh.
