Flax

Flax is a low-maintenance plant that adds lightness and natural movement to any drought-tolerant flower bed. Whether you choose perennial species for sunny spots or annuals, they will reward you with a sea of delicate flowers. It thrives best in full sun in well-draining, slightly sandy soil. In addition to its fragile flowers, you'll enjoy it even after it has finished blooming. The plants form round seed pods, which are excellent material for dried arrangements and wreaths once dried. You just need to harvest them when they are well-matured and the stem beneath them has firmed up. They dry easily by hanging them upside down in a dry, ventilated place. You can easily grow annual species from seeds. If you are just starting out with gardening, our guide on direct sowing or general tips on how to sow will come in handy. You can get perennial flax from us as a strong pre-grown seedling.

Linum perenne

Perennial flax is a beautiful, delicate addition to any drought-tolerant flower bed, bringing lightness and movement to the garden. It naturally grows on sunny and warm grassy slopes, so even at your home, it will most appreciate full sun and well-drained, rather sandy soil. We send customers an already grown seedling in a pot, which simply needs to be transplanted straight into the flower bed. As a short-lived perennial, it can reliably maintain itself in the right spot. It requires almost no care, perfectly handles harsh frosts falling below minus thirty degrees, and all diseases and pests steer clear of it. In the garden, it will look excellent in a rockery, in a gravel bed, or next to drought-tolerant herbs. From June to August, the basic species will delight you with a flood of sky-blue flowers that attract bees and other pollinators. Its fine green stems and leaves, which respond sensitively to the slightest tremor of the wind, also have ornamental value. You can confidently use the sturdy stems, thirty to fifty centimeters long, for cutting into summer bouquets or dry them for later floral crafting.
