Santolina chamaecyparissus is a grey-leaved cushion-forming subshrub originating from rocky and stony areas of the Mediterranean. This predetermines its use in the garden. The whole plant is aromatic and very attractive in appearance. It will look good in gravel beds with aromatic herbs and drought-loving species of perennials and grasses.
