Originally from South America, Stevia is grown for its leaves containing sweet-tasting substances, but without unwanted calories. It blooms in late summer with tiny white flowers, which are worth removing to prevent the plants from weakening. At the same time, they should have the maximum steviol content. The leaves can be used fresh or dried.
