Sněženka

The 'Elwes' snowdrop' is one of the first and most anticipated harbingers of spring. Compared to the common snowdrop, it excels with its more robust growth and noticeably wider gray-green leaves. It reaches a height of fifteen to twenty-five centimeters and adorns the garden with large, pure white flowers as early as February and March. Its appearance acts like a caress in the still-sleeping landscape and creates a wonderful winter effect. Moreover, it is pleasantly fragrant, which will win over not only you but also awakening insects. In the garden, this bulb thrives under deciduous trees and shrubs, where plenty of sunlight reaches in early spring. It also fits perfectly into the edges of flower beds, where it naturally multiplies over the years, creating carpets of white bells. It is a long-lived perennial that does not require complex care and withstands heavy frosts without difficulty. During cold days, bees and bumblebees flock to its fragrant flowers, for which the snowdrops represent an absolutely key source of food at the beginning of the season.
