Scabiosa stellata
Some types of flowers look great even after blooming, and we collect them on the farm too. But Scabiosa, Scabiosa is so beautiful that there's even a type that isn't grown for its flowers, but for drying as a seed pod. Scabiosa stellata blooms white, but it's worth waiting and not harvesting the flowers; what comes after them is much more beautiful than the flower itself. At the end of the straight, firm stems, the seeds are arranged in a regular sphere. Suitable for drying.
For drying, we harvest the mature seed pods from about mid-July. Simply hang them upside down in a dry, ventilated place, away from direct sunlight.
