Corncockle

You might know the Common Corncockle from your childhood, but today, this undemanding plant grows into a beautiful and airy annual in the garden. Its delicate yet quite large flowers on long stems will perfectly complement any colourful flower bed. It works wonderfully both in a vase and in loosely tied bouquets. White varieties, in particular, are popular in wedding floristry because they add a sense of lightness to floral arrangements.

At Loukykvět, we’ve really grown to love the Corncockle, even if it can test our attention when growing it for cutting. It grows and blooms quite quickly, so we have to keep an eye out for the right time to harvest. But for that beauty in vases, it’s always worth it.

Growing is easy, and any beginner can handle it with ease. Given its rapid growth, the plant doesn't need to be started indoors; on the contrary, we recommend direct sowing straight into your chosen spot. Find a sunny place for it with well-drained soil, and you'll soon be rewarded with a gentle flood of flowers.
