Lavender

Lavender is an absolute must-have for every sunny herb garden. These popular subshrubs thrive in our conditions, provided you give them full sun and well-drained, somewhat drier soil. They add not only delicate texture and color to their surroundings but, most importantly, an unmistakable fragrance that attracts pollinators from far and wide. They are also valuable for gardens during the colder months thanks to their winter appearance. They look excellent planted alongside low-growing, drought-tolerant grasses or other perennials with similar growing requirements. You can use them as low edging for flower beds or as fragrant accents on rock gardens and dry stone walls. In addition to classic purple and blue shades, you will also find varieties with white or soft pink flowers here. Whether you choose traditional English lavender or taller varieties grown for their fragrant oils, you will get reliable plants that will bring you joy for many years to come.

Lavender Munstead, Loukykvět
New

Lavandula angustifolia

Lavender 'Munstead' is one of the most popular and hardy cultivars of common lavender, which originated on the sunny, rocky slopes of the Mediterranean. Thanks to this, it tolerates drought excellently and requires full sun with well-draining, rather lean, sandy soil. In our climate, it is fully hardy and adorns the garden even in winter months with its silvery-gray foliage. The plant forms compact, dense mounds reaching a height of around 40 centimeters, making it an ideal choice for edging flower beds, rock gardens, or for growing in containers. During July and August, a flood of deep blue-violet flowers unfolds, attracting a large number of bees, bumblebees, and butterflies with their unmistakable fragrance. The flowers are perfect for cutting into fresh summer bouquets, but are especially suitable for drying. If you harvest them when the first buds begin to open, they will retain their color and intense aroma for a very long time, allowing you to use them in sachets or pillows. 'Munstead' is a cultivar prized for its vitality and rich flowering, which even a beginner gardener can manage.
