Columbine

Columbine is a traditional spring perennial that naturally occurs on the edges of light forests and clearings. Thanks to this origin, it will thrive best in your garden in partial shade and in slightly moist, humus-rich soil. It is reliably frost-resistant and generally requires very little care. At Loukykvět, we often grow columbines as annuals, sowing new plants every year. This approach helps us grow longer stems that are perfect for cutting for vases. Double-flowered varieties have become especially popular, as their full heads and delicate colors brighten up any spring bouquet. In the garden, these flowers fit perfectly into relaxed cottage-style plantings, but they also find their place in modern ones. They beautifully fill the space between spring bulbs and later-blooming plants. If you let them go to seed after flowering, they will take care of natural reproduction on their own.
