Penstemon digitalis
The foxglove beardtongue Mystica is a relatively robust and long-lived perennial with attractive bronze-purple foliage and white-purple flowers. Decorative spent inflorescences continue to adorn beds well into winter. However, the plant can also be cut back after flowering to encourage new growth. The main difference between the penstemon Mystica and Husker Red lies in the foliage. Mystica leaves should be more durable and visually attractive even after the first frosts. We recommend cutting the penstemon back after flowering so it shoots up again. It lasts 5 to 7 days in a vase.
