Astrantia major

The 'Alba' masterwort is a charming and undemanding perennial that will bring a piece of wild nature to any garden with its delicate, pure white flowers. In its natural environment, it grows in moist mountain meadows and light deciduous forests, so it will thrive best here in partial shade or full sun, provided you give it sufficiently moist and humus-rich loamy soil. From the mature potted seedling you receive, a nice clump with palmately lobed green leaves will grow relatively quickly, reaching a height of sixty to eighty centimeters. The plant does not need any support and handles even stronger frosts without difficulty. Moreover, it doesn't suffer from diseases; you just need to keep an eye out for slugs occasionally, as they like to snack on it. It looks exceptionally delicate in the garden and perfectly complements other moisture-loving plants. Its tiny umbel-like flowers, decorated around the perimeter with toothed bracts with translucent green, appear from June to September and reliably attract bees and other pollinators. The upright branched stems are perfect for cutting into fresh bouquets, where they will delight you with their long vase life. In a vase, the flowers stay beautiful for a good ten to fourteen days. They are also excellent for drying and other floristic uses because they hold their shape well. The 'Alba' cultivar stands out precisely for its radiant, pure white shade, which will brighten up even lightly shaded corners of your garden, and its care can be easily managed by complete beginners.

Astrantia major

The 'Roma' masterwort belongs to those rare perennials that can brighten up even slightly shady places in the garden. The original species comes from European light forests and wet meadows, so even at your home, it will most appreciate humous, slightly moist, and loamy soil in partial shade or sun. It forms rich clumps of green, palmately lobed leaves, and thanks to its excellent frost resistance, it reliably overwinters without any protection. We have prepared a fully grown seedling in a pot for you, which you just need to transplant straight to the chosen spot. Even complete beginners will be thrilled with its trouble-free growth; you just need to occasionally check if slugs are feasting on the young leaves. From early summer to early autumn, firm, upright stems dotted with unusual flowers tower above the leaves. The 'Roma' cultivar stands out among other masterworts precisely due to its unusually long flowering period. The flowers themselves have the shape of tiny umbels in a dusty pink color and are surrounded by striking silvery bracts that add to their delicacy. The whole inflorescence thus looks very airy and romantic. In perennial beds, the plant does not need support and works excellently as a lure for bees and other pollinators, who find a rich food source on it during the season. Florists and enthusiastic creators of floral arrangements swear by masterwort. Its upright, richly branched stems are perfectly suited for cutting into fresh summer bouquets. If you put them in a vase at a time when the tiny umbels are nicely colored and fully open, they will bring you joy for an amazing ten to fourteen days. You can also get wonderful material from it for dry arrangements, because after careful drying, it perfectly retains its original color and unique star-like shape, which will enrich any winter decoration.
