Brass buttons is an inconspicuous but very reliable ground cover perennial that comes from the harsher mountainous and rocky areas of New Zealand. Thanks to its origin, it is used to both sun and partial shade and thrives very well in well-drained, sandy, or loamy soil with regular watering. You will receive an already grown seedling in a pot from us, which just needs to be transplanted to the selected spot in the garden. There it will very quickly form a dense carpet reaching a height of only five to ten centimeters. It is decorated with tiny, toothed leaves that transition from green to attractive bronze shades. During summer, from June to August, unconventional white-green spherical flowers appear. Although brass buttons is not at all suitable for cutting into a vase or for drying in dry arrangements, its main strength lies in its practical garden use. It will serve excellently as undergrowth beneath taller shrubs, in rockeries, or for edging flower beds. Even absolute beginners can handle caring for it, because it does not suffer from diseases or pests and easily survives frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees. Moreover, it retains its charm even in the cold months and will ensure an interesting winter effect on every flower bed.
