Veronicastrum virginicum
Culver's root is a native perennial of the eastern part of North America, where it grows in moist meadows and light forests. Its flowers, arranged in upright branched spikes, are impressive. They are a great attraction for insects and butterflies. After flowering, the durable seed heads decorate the plant long into winter. These impressive perennials last about 7 days in a vase. The 'Adoration' cultivar has light pink flowers with a lilac tinge; it is more compact and reaches more moderate dimensions suitable even for smaller gardens. The sturdy, upright stems are additionally darker toned.
