Sidalcea hybride
The 'Rosanna' prairie mallow is a beautiful, long-flowering perennial whose inflorescence at first glance resembles miniature hollyhocks or a classic mallow. The original species of this plant come from the sunny plains and meadows of North America. This explains its fondness for warm and sunny locations. It thrives best in well-drained, loamy, and sufficiently humous soil. Although it is a representative of short-lived perennials, it makes a great show in the flowerbed and easily survives severe frosts dropping to -28 °C. Even a complete beginner can handle growing it. From June to September, it produces tall stems that grow to a height of around one meter and carry beautiful flowers in a delicate salmon-pink shade. During the summer, it reliably attracts bees and other pollinators. It is perfectly suited for a classic combination with roses, but it will also find its place in wilder flowerbeds with ornamental grasses. Given its height, it is sometimes necessary to think about support so that the stems do not uproot in the wind. Just watch out for slugs and snails, which like to feast on its green leaves. You will receive a mature potted seedling from us, which you can simply transplant straight into the garden. In addition, prairie mallow flowers are great for cutting into summer bouquets, where they stand out with their firm structure. Unlike other flowers, however, they are not suitable for drying and are intended more for fresh arrangements. During wetter periods, it is good to check the plant, as rust can occasionally appear on it.
