Sweet rocket

Dame's Rocket is a popular cottage garden plant that blooms with rich clusters of purple and white flowers from May to July. It is a sturdy biennial or short-lived perennial that grows up to a meter tall. In the wild, it grows on the edges of moist forests and meadows, which is why it thrives in humus-rich, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Given the right conditions, it reliably maintains itself in the flower bed through self-seeding. The flowers of Dame's Rocket have a pleasant scent and act as a magnet for bees and butterflies. For us, it is one of the first harvests of spring. Each plant produces several firm, long stems that are great for cutting. We often mix them into bouquets with spring bulbs.
