Salicornia is an edible succulent plant, also called sea asparagus. It grows on saline sandy soils in sunny places. It is used in gastronomy and the cosmetic industry. It has a salty taste resembling young spinach. It can be eaten raw, added to salads, or briefly stewed with butter and garlic.
