Cultivation
Slanorožec pěstujeme jako jednoletou rostlinu. Protože od nás obdržíte již krásně vzrostlou sazenici v květináči, můžete ji po doručení rovnou bez starostí umístit na její trvalé místo. Nejlépe jí vyhovuje plně slunné stanoviště, ideální je horké a slunné místo na jižní straně zahrady, kde se bude cítit jako na prosluněném mořském pobřeží. Půda by měla být především velmi dobře propustná, chudá a ideálně spíše písčitá nebo kamenitá. Pokud máte na zahradě běžnou těžkou půdu, která drží vlhkost, určitě ji před samotnou výsadbou důkladně vylepšete hrubým pískem nebo drobným štěrkem. Zabráníte tak tomu, aby u kořenů stála voda, což by rostlině uškodilo.
Základní pravidla péče:
- Zálivka a hnojení: Ačkoliv jde o drobnější sukulentní rostlinu dorůstající výšky deset až třicet centimetrů, pravidelnou, ale spíše mírnou zálivku v horkém létě velmi ocení. Dejte si však velký pozor na přemokření, vláhové podmínky by měly celkově zůstat spíše na sušší straně. Běžné hnojení vůbec není nutné, protože v přirozeně chudé půdě prosperuje suverénně nejlépe.
- Trik pro dokonalou chuť: Co je pro pěstování této bylinky naprosto specifické, je její přirozená potřeba soli. Občasné zalití mírně osolenou vodou (přibližně jedna čajová lžička kvalitní mořské soli na jeden litr vody) výrazně podpoří její typickou slanou chuť i celkovou vitalitu.
Slanorožec se naprosto výborně hodí pro pěstování v nádobách a truhlících na slunném balkonu nebo terase, kde ho budete mít blízko do kuchyně. V květináči jen nezapomeňte na silnou a kvalitní drenážní vrstvu na dně. Velkou výhodou této rostliny je její obrovská přirozená odolnost. Nemusíte se bát žádných pěstebních komplikací, protože netrpí na běžné choroby a spolehlivě se jí vyhýbají i všichni škůdci. Jelikož se jedná o letničku, před příchodem podzimních mrazů její životní cyklus přirozeně končí a rostlinu tak přes zimu nijak neuchováváme. Během léta můžete průběžně zaštipovat mladé dužnaté zelené výhonky do salátů, čímž sazenici navíc krásně zahustíte a podpoříte její růst.
