The Maxima cultivar is exceptional for its velvety, grayish-green leaves, which grow up to three times larger than those of standard varieties. During June and July, it produces violet-blue flowers that draw in pollinators. However, if you want to retain maximum aroma in the foliage, we recommend pinching out the emerging flowers. Výběr stanoviště a výsadba Šalvěj lékařská je původem ze suchého a teplého Středomoří a její pěstování je naštěstí velmi snadné, což zaručeně ocení zejména zahradníci začátečníci. Obdrženou silnou sazenici vysazujte vždy na plné slunce, kde se jí daří naprosto nejlépe a tvoří nejvíce vonných silic. Půda by měla být spíše chudá a velmi dobře propustná, ideálně písčitá nebo přímo štěrkovitá. Těžkým, jílovitým a trvale přemokřeným půdám se obloukem vyhněte. Při výsadbě do bylinkového nebo trvalkového záhonu dodržujte spon zhruba 40 centimetrů, tedy asi šest rostlin na metr čtvereční. Tento rozestup spolehlivě zajistí dobrou cirkulaci vzduchu a podpoří zdravý růst mohutných šedozelených listů.
