Šalvěj lékařská k vám dorazí jako krásně prokořeněná sazenice v květináči, kterou můžete ihned po rozbalení přesadit na finální stanoviště. Nejlépe se jí bude dařit na horkém slunném místě, které napodobuje její domovinu ve Středomoří. Půdu vyžaduje velmi dobře propustnou, klidně chudší, písčitou nebo kamenitou. Pokud máte na zahradě těžkou půdu, určitě přidejte na dno výsadbové jamky štěrk pro zajištění dobré drenáže. Při výsadbě do záhonu dodržujte spon zhruba 40 centimetrů, což odpovídá zhruba sedmi rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Tento rozestup zajistí dostatečnou cirkulaci vzduchu kolem úhledných, 40 až 60 centimetrů vysokých keříků.
Co se týče zálivky a výživy, je odrůda Purple Beauty naprosto nenáročná a ideální pro začátečníky. Rostlina je suchomilná, takže si vystačí jen s občasným zalitím během velmi suchých období.
