Common fennel
A tall medicinal perennial with decorative, finely divided leaves and a sweet taste and scent similar to anise. It does not form tubers. The delicate, aromatic leaves add an attractive veil and smoke effect to a perennial bed. Its flowers are a magnet for beneficial insects. It lasts 7–10 days in a vase. Matured umbels with seeds can be dried.
