Meadow rue

Meadow-rue reliably adds airiness and fine texture to any perennial bed. Although it may look very fragile at first glance, it is a strong and resilient plant. Its tiny flowers hover on tall stems, resembling a colorful cloud or delicate lace from a distance. However, it is ornamental even before it blooms, thanks to its gray-green foliage. Originally, these plants can be found on mountain plains and in shrublands, which is why they thrive best in partial shade and moist, well-drained loamy soil rich in nutrients in the garden. They look great in mixed plantings alongside other taller perennials, to whom they make excellent companions, pleasantly lightening the entire composition. You will receive well-grown seedlings in pots from us, which you can simply transplant directly to your chosen spot. They are long-lived plants, and once they settle into your garden, they will bring you joy for many years.

Meadow rue Decorum, Loukykvět

Thalictrum delavayi

Meadow rue 'Decorum' brings unrepeatable lightness and elegance to perennial beds. This robust perennial comes from the mountainous regions of China, where it grows in moister thickets and on grassy slopes. In the garden, it will enchant you with its delicate, lilac to lavender flowers that hover like a purple haze above the dark green, finely divided leaves. It grows to an impressive height of up to 150 cm, making it a great fit for the background of flower beds, where it forms an airy backdrop for other plants. Given its height and fragile appearance, it will appreciate support so the wind does not break it. It loves humous, well-drained soil with plenty of moisture and a location in full sun or partial shade. The flowers are a magnet for pollinators, and in summer, the bed will literally come alive with buzzing. Even though the plant looks very delicate, it is fully frost-hardy. If you like making bouquets, meadow rue is an ideal addition for lightening up the arrangement, but it is not suitable for drying. Just remember that the entire plant is poisonous.

Columbine meadow-rue, Loukykvět

Thalictrum aquilegiifolium

Columbine meadow-rue is a charming perennial that looks like a fluffy colored cloud in the garden. Its species name refers to the striking resemblance of its leaves to columbines; they are finely divided, grayish-green, and very decorative even before flowering. Originally, this species grows in moister open forests and meadows of Europe and Asia, which is why it will also thrive in your garden in humus-rich and non-drying soil in full sun or partial shade. In June and July, the plant drapes itself in a veil of tiny blossoms, consisting mainly of conspicuous clusters of stamens without petals. These fluffy inflorescences in shades of lilac and light pink attract a multitude of pollinators and bees. Thanks to its height, which can exceed one meter, it is perfectly suited for the background of perennial beds, to which it adds lightness, height, and airiness. The flowers are also excellent for cutting into a vase, where they stay fresh and act as a delicate filler material. It is a long-lived and completely frost-resistant plant suitable even for beginners; you just need to keep in mind that it is poisonous.
