Amaranth

Amaranth is a popular annual that works as a filler for bouquets and reliably livens up garden beds. It grows quickly, is easy to cultivate, and has an interesting texture. Depending on the variety, it forms either upright spikes resembling bushy dusters or cascading tendrils that drape to the ground. For us, it is a staple without which we cannot imagine the season. In terms of colors, you have many shades to choose from, ranging from fresh green through biscuit brown to dark burgundy or coral. These colors combine well with other flowers and stand out beautifully in the autumn. They usually have sturdy stems, which makes them easy to work with when arranging. Since it is a plant grown from seeds, you can choose a suitable propagation method. Some prefer starting them indoors, but direct sowing right into the bed works very well too. If you are just starting out with growing annuals, we recommend reading our basic tips on how to sow seeds so that you can soon enjoy healthy and strong plants.

Amaranth Coral Fountain, Loukykvět

Amaranthus cruentus

Greenery is a must! And Amaranthus is our evergreen. Coral Fountain is a cultivar of Amaranthus caudatus whose tassels don't grow upright, but instead cascade to the ground like a waterfall. And a coral-colored waterfall at that! It fits perfectly into bouquets, even if used in small amounts. It also looks interesting in a garden bed; it's definitely an annual that adds a special effect. Each plant produces one strong stem and up to five weaker side stems.
