Globe amaranth

Globe amaranth produces tiny, spherical flowers that feel like straw to the touch. We love it here at Loukykvět because it grows almost pre-dried and is absolutely perfect for any crafting, arranging, or wedding decorations. While it might not be a classic large cut flower, its charm lies in those little heads that hold their color for a long time. If you want to dry them for winter, harvest the fully colored and round heads while they are still in full bloom. Once the inflorescence starts to stretch upwards, it is already too late for drying. Simply tie the cut stems together and hang them heads-down in a dry, well-ventilated place, ideally away from direct sunlight. It is an undemanding annual that you can easily grow from seeds. You can start them at home or in a greenhouse by following our basic sowing guide, or try direct sowing straight into the garden bed. Globe amaranth appreciates full sun and well-drained soil.
