Jacob's ladder

Jacob's Ladder, so named for their regularly arranged leaves, have been grown in gardens since as early as the 16th century. Today, these low-maintenance perennials are making a comeback, bringing lightness and a bit of old-fashioned cottage garden nostalgia to flower beds. Their finely divided, fern-like foliage looks beautiful even when the plants aren't in bloom. Native species grow naturally in moist meadows from Europe to Siberia. Because of this, Jacob's Ladder are extremely hardy, and deep frosts pose no problem for them. They reliably overwinter here and wake up in full strength come spring. In the garden, they will be happiest in spots that aren't completely dried out. They love humous, well-draining, and moist soil. They are an excellent choice for flower beds, where they will gently complement other plants with both their flowers and unusual leaf structure.
