The Blue Pearl Jacob's ladder brings a piece of wild nature and the nostalgia of country gardens to the flower beds. This perennial is extremely hardy and handles even harsh frosts down to -40 °C without problems, so you don't have to worry about it in the winter. It naturally grows in moister habitats, so it will welcome humus-rich and well-drained soil that retains moisture. It will thrive in direct sun only provided there is sufficient watering, otherwise, it prefers partial shade, where its fresh green leaves form a beautiful undergrowth. Typical for it are delicate fresh green leaves and especially tender blue flowers, which attract bees and bumblebees. Furthermore, Jacob's ladder is a rewarding cut flower that adds airiness to bouquets. For a vase, we cut the stems when the first third of the flowers has bloomed, and they will stay fresh for up to 10 days. The Blue Pearl variety retains the original beauty of the botanical species with a pure shade of sky blue.

The Roseus hyssop is an aromatic subshrub whose structure and requirements strongly resemble the popular lavender. It originally comes from the sunny and dry regions of the Mediterranean and Asia Minor, so it thrives best in direct sun here as well. It favors well-drained, sandy, and even nutrient-poor soil, where it easily copes with a lack of moisture. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply transplant straight into the flower bed, where it will very soon form a neat, richly branched bush reaching a height of around fifty centimeters. It is an absolutely undemanding plant that is not bothered by diseases or pests, so its cultivation can be easily handled even by complete beginners. It comfortably withstands severe frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees Celsius.
In the garden, hyssop finds wide application. It fits perfectly into steppe-character gravel beds and beautifully complements roses or lower ornamental grasses. During the summer until early autumn, the Roseus variety will delight you with a flood of tiny flowers in a delicate light pink shade. Phlox, known as 'plamenka' in Czech, is originally a native perennial from the moister meadows and forest edges of North America. It soon achieved great popularity in European gardens and has been systematically bred since the nineteenth century. It is a classic garden perennial that brings a romantic mood and abundant floods of flowers to summer beds. The approximately one meter tall straight stems are adorned with deep green leaves and bear dense inflorescences on top from July to August. At the same time, the whole plant smells very pleasantly, which acts as a reliable magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies from the wide surroundings.
Although phlox is very easy to grow and even complete beginners can manage the care, it pays to pay attention to the correct choice of location. We send customers already mature seedlings in a pot, which you can easily transplant directly into the garden. Here, phlox thrives best in a sunny to semi-shady location with loamy, humous, and well-drained soil. It is ideal to keep a spacing of about fifty centimeters when planting so that each clump has enough space to grow. They like plenty of moisture, and stable humidity is important to them. During severe drought, they can react sensitively and be more susceptible to powdery mildew, so they will welcome more abundant watering in the hot summer. Fortunately, you don't have to worry about pests; they avoid it. As for winter, you can throw your worries behind you, because the plant can handle severe frosts down to minus thirty-four degrees.
In ornamental beds, phlox stands out both individually in larger groups and in combination with other summer perennials or shorter ornamental grasses. Furthermore, it is an absolutely ideal plant for cutting into vases. It will lend your home not only beautiful pastel colors but also its unmistakable sweet scent. Výběr ideálního stanoviště a příprava půdy
Pro úspěšné pěstování jirnice 'Blue Pearl' je klíčový výběr správného místa. Tato trvalka přirozeně vyhledává chladnější stanoviště s vyšší vzdušnou vlhkostí, proto jí nejvíce svědčí polostín. Pokud ji chcete umístit na přímé slunce, je to možné, ale pouze za předpokladu, že jí zajistíte opravdu dostatečnou a pravidelnou zálivku. Půdu vyžaduje humózní, hlinitou a dobře propustnou, která však dokáže zadržet potřebnou vláhu. Příliš suchá nebo písčitá půda jí nesvědčí. Před výsadbou sazenice doporučujeme půdu obohatit vyzrálým kompostem, který zlepší její strukturu i vododržnost.
Výsadba a péče během sezóny
Sazenice vysazujeme do připravené půdy ve sponu přibližně 40 cm, což odpovídá hustotě 6 až 9 rostlin na metr čtvereční. Tento rozestup zajistí rostlinám dostatek prostoru pro rozvoj a zároveň umožní vytvoření zapojeného porostu. Jelikož se jedná o rostlinu náročnou na vláhu (vláha 💧💧💧), je nutné ji zejména v horkých letních dnech pravidelně zalévat. Jirnice je obecně velmi zdravá a odolná rostlina, která netrpí na běžné choroby. Ačkoliv je v atributech uvedeno, že je bez škůdců, na vlhčích stinných místech je vhodné preventivně kontrolovat výskyt slimáků, kterým mohou chutnat její šťavnaté listy.
Střih, druhé kvetení a využití
Velkou předností této odrůdy je schopnost opakovaného kvetení. Jakmile v červnu či červenci odkvete první vlna blankytně modrých květů, doporučujeme provést celkový zpětný řez. Tímto zásahem rostlinu povzbudíte k tvorbě nových, svěže zelených listů a především k opětovnému nasazení květů, kterých se dočkáte v září. Květy jsou navíc skvělé k řezu do váz – stříhejte je v okamžiku, kdy je rozkvetlá zhruba první třetina, a vydrží vám krásné až 10 dní.
Mrazuvzdornost a pěstování v nádobách
Jirnice 'Blue Pearl' je mimořádně odolná trvalka, která zvládá mrazy až do -40 °C (zóna 3a). Na zimu tedy nepotřebuje žádnou speciální ochranu ani zakrývání, spolehlivě přezimuje i v nejchladnějších oblastech naší republiky. Zákazníci se často ptají na pěstování v květináčích – ano, je to možné. Pro pěstování v nádobách však volte dostatečně velké a hluboké květináče a dbejte na to, aby substrát nikdy zcela nevyschl. V nádobě je rostlina náchylnější na přehřátí a vysušení kořenového balu než ve volné půdě.
