Perovskia are undemanding and will grow even in stony, dry, and nutrient-poor places. They do not tolerate winter dampness well, so well-drained, sandy, or gravelly soil is suitable. Excess nutrients cause instability in the clumps. Cut them back completely in spring; they will sprout again and thicken.
