The White Pearl Jacob's ladder presents an elegant yet very resilient perennial that overwinters without problems in our conditions. The original species grows in damp habitats from Europe to Siberia, making it an ideal plant for humus-rich and moister soils. If you have a spot in the garden that is not explicitly dry, Jacob's ladder will reward you with vital growth and abundant blooming. Its leaves are divided and arranged so regularly that they resemble the rungs of a ladder. This is where its common name, Jacob's ladder, comes from. During June and July, stems with pure white flowers adorned with delicate yellow stamens tower above the clumps of leaves. The White Pearl variety grows to a height of around 80 centimeters and looks very airy in perennial beds. It is perfectly suited for partially shaded areas but will also tolerate sun if provided with regular watering. The flowers are a magnet for bees and other beneficial insects. Floristically, Jacob's ladder is valuable for its longevity and decorative appearance. We cut the stems the moment the first third of the flowers has bloomed, so they last as long as possible in a vase, which is usually seven to ten days. The pure white flower color of White Pearl is easy to combine and brings peace and harmony to summer arrangements. It is an absolutely undemanding plant that is not bothered by diseases or pests, so its cultivation can be easily handled even by complete beginners. It comfortably withstands severe frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees Celsius.
In the garden, hyssop finds wide application. It fits perfectly into steppe-character gravel beds and beautifully complements roses or lower ornamental grasses. During the summer until early autumn, the Roseus variety will delight you with a flood of tiny flowers in a delicate light pink shade. These flowers, as well as the narrow green leaves, emit a pleasant spicy fragrance and reliably act as a huge lure for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. Since all parts of the plant are edible, you can also use hyssop in the kitchen as a herb to flavor dishes or prepare a medicinal tea from it.
You can also cut the long flowering stems for a vase, where they will add a fine texture and lightness to summer bouquets. Catmint Walker’s Low
Catmints are ideal companions for roses, suitable for naturalistic gardens, and lower species also for boxes and pots. Some of them are an irresistible attraction for cats, caused by the hallucinogen nepetalactone. This should be present in the highest amount in the species Nepeta cataria. Conversely, lemon-scented catmints reportedly do not attract cats. Giant scabious is an imposing solitary perennial that will bring a striking vertical structure and natural wild charm to the garden. It comes from the mountain meadows of the Caucasus, which dictates its growing requirements. From the delivered seedling, a highly noticeable plant with a massive, sparsely branched growth will quickly grow in full sun or partial shade and humus-rich loamy soil. Given its dimensions, we recommend planting one piece per square meter. It commonly reaches a height of up to two and a half meters, yet it needs no support at all. From June to August, it forms scabiosa-like flowers in pastel yellow to lime colors on long stems. This creates a very effective contrast between the relatively massive bulk of green leaves and the airy, wiry stems with small flower heads. Pěstování jirnice White Pearl je radostí pro každého, kdo hledá nenáročnou krásu s minimem starostí, ovšem za předpokladu, že jí dopřejete to nejdůležitější – vláhu. Tato rostlina, kterou obdržíte již jako zapěstovanou sazenici, miluje vlhčí a humózní půdy. Ideální stanoviště najde v polostínu, kde půda nevysychá tak rychle jako na přímém úpalu. Pokud ji přece jen chcete vysadit na slunné místo, musíte počítat s nutností častější a pravidelné zálivky. Půda by měla být hlinitá, propustná a bohatá na živiny, aby rostlina mohla vitálně růst a bohatě kvést. Vyhněte se místům, která jsou vysloveně suchá nebo písčitá, tam by jirnice živořila a kvetla jen málo.
Sazenice vysazujeme do připravené půdy tak, aby měly kolem sebe dostatek prostoru, doporučený spon je 40 cm, což odpovídá přibližně 6 až 9 rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Díky tomu bude mezi rostlinami proudit vzduch, což je prevence proti případným houbovým chorobám, ačkoliv je jirnice obecně velmi zdravá a netrpí na choroby ani škůdce. Po výsadbě rostliny důkladně zalijte a v prvních týdnech hlídejte vlhkost substrátu, než dostatečně zakoření. Pro udržení vláhy v půdě je velmi vhodné okolí rostlin zamulčovat kůrou nebo štěpkou, což oceníte zejména v horkých letních dnech.
Jedním z nejzajímavějších triků při pěstování této trvalky je práce s jejím kvetením. Jakmile rostlina v červnu či červenci odkvete, doporučuje se provést celkový zpětný řez. Nebojte se stonky sestřihnout hluboko; jirnice na tento zásah reaguje velmi pozitivně. Znovu bujně vyraší, vytvoří čerstvé trsy listů a v září vás často překvapí opakovaným kvetením. Pokud pěstujete jirnici k řezu do vázy, stonky sklízejte ve chvíli, kdy nakvete první třetina květů. Ve vodě vydrží svěží sedm až deset dní.
Co se týče zimování, jirnice je extrémně odolná. Její mrazuvzdornost sahá až k -40 °C, takže v našich podmínkách přezimuje naprosto bez problémů a nevyžaduje žádnou speciální zimní ochranu ani zakrývání chvojím. Pokud byste chtěli tuto krásku pěstovat v nádobách či truhlíku, je to možné, ale vyžaduje to zvýšenou péči. Nádoba musí být dostatečně velká a především musíte zajistit, aby substrát nikdy zcela nevyschl. V květináči se půda prohřívá a vysychá mnohem rychleji než na záhonu, proto je pěstování v nádobách vhodné spíše pro zkušenější pěstitele, kteří nezapomenou na každodenní zálivku.

It has a semi-double pure white flower, often with inner twisted petals, and compact, strictly upright growth. The flowers are very durable.
