Although it is a short-lived perennial, thanks to its height of up to one hundred and twenty centimeters, it forms an unmissable vertical element in the flowerbeds. It fits perfectly into steppe areas alongside fine drought-tolerant grasses and other perennials. During May and June, its tall stems become a sought-after pasture for bees and other pollinators. The plant easily handles frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees and does not suffer from diseases or pests, so transplanting and growing this seedling is suitable even for complete beginners. You will receive the Mullein 'Southern Charm' seedling already beautifully rooted and ready for immediate planting straight into your flowerbed. Choose a truly warm and sunny spot for it, as that is where it will thrive best. Well-drained and rather sandy or gravelly soil is absolutely crucial for this plant. Mullein is a typical drought-tolerant plant that strictly hates winter waterlogging. If you have heavier soil in your garden, be sure to mix in plenty of sand and fine gravel before planting. Plant the seedlings about forty centimeters apart, which corresponds to five to seven plants per square meter. This spacing will ensure adequate air circulation. You do not have to worry about any diseases or pests; this variety is highly resistant to them, and even complete beginners will easily handle growing it.
Once the seedling is well rooted, it requires almost no additional watering, and you can skip fertilizing completely. In humus-rich and nutrient-dense soil, the plant would grow too vigorously and its tall stems could lose their firmness, although under normal conditions it needs no support. From May to August, it will delight you with beautiful peach and dusty pink flowers. For the mullein to bloom repeatedly and maintain good condition, we recommend cutting it back after the first bloom. Simply remove the spent stems, which will rejuvenate this short-lived perennial and encourage the formation of new buds. It handles winter without problems, tolerating frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees. It does not suffer from any diseases or pests, so even complete beginners can easily handle caring for it. Throughout late summer and into autumn, it blooms with a record number of tiny blue flowers that are so typical of the Blue Cloud variety. You will receive from us an already grown seedling in a pot, which you just need to transplant to the chosen spot in the flower bed. The Goldsturm cultivar grows to a height of about seventy centimeters and does not need support. From August to October, it produces a flood of golden-yellow flowers with distinctly dark centers.
