While the original wild species blooms yellow, this exceptional var. album form boasts pure white flowers cleverly decorated with purple and finely hairy stamens. These flowers act literally as a magnet for bees and other beneficial pollinators. Although it is a short-lived perennial, if it likes it at your place, it will reliably take care of new seedlings and grow in the same spot in the following years. The cultivar Royal Wedding will reward you in May and June with huge bowl-shaped flowers with pure white petals, which hide a distinct dark burgundy spot in their center. Moreover, these enchanting flowers reliably attract pollinators from far and wide. It is typical for Oriental poppies that their strikingly fuzzy green leaves die back soon after flowering. The plant takes a break over the warmest summer to gather strength, and a smaller portion of the leaves often sprouts again only at the end of summer. Therefore, it is ideal to plant the poppy in the flower bed in close proximity to other perennials that sprout slightly later and naturally fill the empty space left by the resting poppy. It avoids diseases and needs no support, reaching a height of around sixty to eighty centimeters. Just watch out for field voles, which might develop a taste for its fleshy roots. Otherwise, it is a long-lived plant that even a complete beginner can handle without worries. Given that the plant is poisonous, it is naturally not intended for consumption. The giant white flowers are also a great attraction for lovers of cut flowers, although they require a little trick. Similar to other poppies, the stems need to be harvested exactly at the moment when the buds begin to color and slightly crack. Right after cutting, we sear the ends of the stems with a flame for about twenty seconds to prevent sap leakage, and then we put them into cold water. Thanks to this procedure, they will stay beautiful for about four days in a vase and add amazing lightness to bouquets. Although these delicate flowers are not suitable for drying, they simply have no competition in fresh spring bouquets.

Sazenici divizny černé doporučujeme vysazovat na záhon ideálně na jaře nebo nejpozději začátkem podzimu, aby do zimy spolehlivě prokořenila. Tato nenáročná trvalka doslova miluje plné slunce a vyloženě horká stanoviště. Nejlépe se jí bude dařit v dobře odvodněných, lehkých a spíše písčitých nebo štěrkovitých půdách. Naopak těžkým a trvale zamokřeným půdám se určitě vyhněte, tam by její kořeny mohly uhnívat. Při výsadbě dodržujte spon zhruba 40 centimetrů, což odpovídá pěti až sedmi rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Dostatečný prostor zajistí dobrou cirkulaci vzduchu kolem tmavě zelených listových růžic a podpoří celkovou vitalitu rostliny. Divizna nepotřebuje oporu, její metrové stonky jsou dostatečně pevné.
Jakmile sazenice na novém místě zakoření, stává se z ní extrémně odolná a suchomilná rostlina. Zálivku vyžaduje pouze bezprostředně po výsadbě a během extrémně dlouhých období sucha. Co se týče výživy, divizna preferuje spíše chudé půdy, proto se vyhněte jakémukoliv přihnojování. Příliš mnoho živin by vedlo k vytáhlému a slabému růstu. Pokud nemáte zahradu, můžete tuto krásku pěstovat i ve větší a především hlubší nádobě na slunné terase. Zásadní je ale použití velmi propustného substrátu s velkým podílem písku a dostatečně velký odtokový otvor na dně květináče, aby v něm nikdy nestála voda.
Během května a června rostlina bohatě vykvétá čistě bílými květy, které jsou perfektní i k řezu do vázy. Po hlavním odkvětu doporučujeme stonky seříznout, čímž rostlinu podpoříte, aby znovu obrazila a případně nakvetla. Pamatujte ale, že jde o krátkověkou trvalku. Pokud si ji chcete na záhonu udržet i do dalších let, nechte několik posledních květenství přirozeně dozrát. Divizna se velmi ochotně přesévá a spolehlivě se postará o novou generaci. S příchodem zimy nevyžaduje žádnou speciální péči, je plně mrazuvzdorná až do -23 °C a její přízemní růžice krásně zdobí zahradu i pod sněhem. Velkou výhodou pro začátečníky je fakt, že zcela postrádá problémy s chorobami a škůdci.
