The Oriental poppy originates from the Caucasus, Turkey, and Iran, where it grows on rocky slopes and dry meadows. It blooms with large bowl-shaped flowers on tall stems. Like all poppies, for use in bouquets, we harvest them as soon as the buds color up and "crack". Additionally, we briefly (for about 20 seconds) sear the ends of the stems with a flame and immediately place them in cold water. Then they last in a vase for 4 days. The strikingly hairy and large leaves die back shortly after flowering, and the plant must rest until spring to gather strength. A portion of the leaves sprouts again in late summer. Therefore, it is advisable to plant other perennials in close proximity that sprout later and can draw attention to themselves during the poppy's pause. Royal Wedding flowers have white petals with a dark burgundy spot in the center of the flower.

Sazenice divizny 'Sixteen Candles' je po doručení připravená k výsadbě na záhon. Tato nenáročná trvalka nejvíce ocení horké a slunné stanoviště. Zásadní je pro ni správná volba půdy, která musí být dobře propustná, lehká a písčitá nebo štěrkovitá. Pokud máte na zahradě těžkou půdu, určitě při výsadbě přidejte pořádnou dávku písku či drobného štěrku pro odlehčení. Sazenice sázejte na vzdálenost přibližně 40 centimetrů od sebe, což odpovídá zhruba 4 až 6 rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Tento dostatečný prostor zajistí dobrou cirkulaci vzduchu mezi rostlinami a podpoří jejich zdravý růst bez nutnosti dodatečné opory.
Jelikož jde o výrazně suchomilnou rostlinu, se zálivkou si po jejím zakořenění nemusíte dělat téměř žádné starosti. Vodu potřebuje jen v období opravdu dlouhého a extrémního sucha. Nadměrná vlhkost, a to zejména přes zimu, je jejím největším nepřítelem a může vést k uhnívání kořenů. Stejně skromná je divizna i co se týče živin. Roste přirozeně v chudších půdách, proto nevyžaduje žádné pravidelné přihnojování. Obrovskou výhodou pro každého pěstitele je fakt, že tato rostlina netrpí na žádné běžné choroby a vyhýbají se jí i zahradní škůdci, takže se obejdete zcela bez chemie.
Během května a června se můžete těšit na záplavu citrónově žlutých květů. Jakmile rostlina odkvete, doporučujeme provést takzvaný zpětný řez, tedy odstranit odkvetlé výhony. Tento krok rostlinu omladí, zvýší její vitalitu a velmi často ji vyprovokuje k opětovnému kvetení v pozdější části léta. Divizny patří mezi krátkověké trvalky, což znamená, že na stejném místě vydrží jen několik málo let. Výborně se ale na stanovišti sama přesévá, takže o její přítomnost v zahradě nepřijdete. Před zimou se o ni nemusíte bát, je plně mrazuvzdorná až do -23 °C a spolehlivě přezimuje bez jakékoliv ochrany.
Pokud zvažujete pěstování na balkóně nebo terase, diviznu lze pěstovat i v nádobách. Vzhledem k její výšce 100 až 120 centimetrů a silnému kořenovému systému zvolte opravdu hluboký a stabilní květináč. Na dno nezapomeňte umístit silnou drenážní vrstvu z keramzitu nebo štěrku. Jako substrát použijte směs smíchanou s pískem, aby voda mohla po zálivce vždy rychle odtéct. V květináči bude substrát vysychat o něco rychleji než ve volné půdě, proto vlhkost občas zkontrolujte, ale dbejte na to, aby miska pod květináčem nikdy nestála ve vodě.

Divizna Dark Eyes je okouzlující trvalka, která vnese do vaší zahrady jemnost pastelových tónů. Původní druhy divizen pocházejí ze suchých a slunných oblastí, kde přirozeně rostou na chudých a kamenitých půdách.
