You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant to a sunny location with well-drained loamy soil. The cultivar Royal Wedding will reward you in May and June with huge bowl-shaped flowers with pure white petals, which hide a distinct dark burgundy spot in their center. Moreover, these enchanting flowers reliably attract pollinators from far and wide. It is typical for Oriental poppies that their strikingly fuzzy green leaves die back soon after flowering. The plant takes a break over the warmest summer to gather strength, and a smaller portion of the leaves often sprouts again only at the end of summer. Therefore, it is ideal to plant the poppy in the flower bed in close proximity to other perennials that sprout slightly later and naturally fill the empty space left by the resting poppy. It avoids diseases and needs no support, reaching a height of around sixty to eighty centimeters. Just watch out for field voles, which might develop a taste for its fleshy roots. If you are looking for an undemanding perennial that will scent your garden with a honey fragrance and at the same time solve a problem with a damp spot, this cultivar is a great choice. Meadowsweet 'Kahome' thrives where the soil is constantly moist, humus-rich, and even clayey. Its natural habitat is the banks of water bodies and wetlands, so it will do great by a garden pond or in places where water pools after rain. The location can be in full sun as well as in partial shade. In a sunny spot, it will bloom somewhat more abundantly, but it will require you to really make sure the soil never completely dries out. In partial shade, the watering demands are slightly lower, but moisture is still key.
When planting the purchased seedling, make sure the soil is well-loosened and enriched with organic matter, which acts like a sponge retaining water. Plant the plants at a spacing of about 30 to 40 cm apart. Given that this is a long-lived perennial that will spread on the site for many years, it pays to pay attention to soil preparation. You can plant the seedlings in containers from spring to autumn. After planting, it is necessary to water the plant intensively until it is fully rooted. Thanks to its compact height of around 40–50 cm, the plant does not need to be tied to a support; the stems are sturdy enough and hold their shape even in wind or rain.
Maintenance during the year is minimal and any beginner can handle it. A great advantage of this meadowsweet is that it does not suffer from any specific diseases or pests, so you don't have to use any chemicals. Just focus on watering – the symbol of three drops (💧💧💧) in the attributes indicates that drought is its arch-enemy. The flowers appear from June to August and attract bees and other pollinators. If you want to bring a piece of summer home, do not hesitate to cut the inflorescences into bouquets; they stay beautiful for a long time in water. After blooming and with the arrival of the first frosts, the plant will die back to the ground. It is fully frost-hardy even in extreme temperatures, so it will survive the winter unscathed. In the spring, just remove the old dry leaves and stems by cutting just above the ground, which will encourage the sprouting of new, healthy shoots.
A frequent question is growing meadowsweet in containers. Yes, the 'Kahome' cultivar is suitable for this thanks to its low growth, but it has its specifics. In a window box or pot, the plant has limited space for roots and water supply. Therefore, we recommend using self-watering containers or sufficiently large pots with high-quality substrate for balcony plants, which does not dry out as quickly. Even so, the plant in a container will require your daily attention with watering, especially on hot summer days. If you forget to water it in a container, it will wilt very quickly and the leaves may irreversibly dry out.

Woodland Sage Schneehügel
This species of sage originates from the steppe regions of Central and Eastern Europe. It forms abundantly flowering small clumps with straight upright stems. In beds, it looks best in groups. Traditionally, it is planted as a companion to roses due to the matching flowering time. However, it will look equally good in mixed drought-loving steppe plantings with grasses. It is an excellent food source for bees. It lasts 7 days in a vase. Schneehügel blooms white.
