The cultivar Royal Wedding will reward you in May and June with huge bowl-shaped flowers with pure white petals, which hide a distinct dark burgundy spot in their center. Moreover, these enchanting flowers reliably attract pollinators from far and wide. It is typical for Oriental poppies that their strikingly fuzzy green leaves die back soon after flowering. The plant takes a break over the warmest summer to gather strength, and a smaller portion of the leaves often sprouts again only at the end of summer. Therefore, it is ideal to plant the poppy in the flower bed in close proximity to other perennials that sprout slightly later and naturally fill the empty space left by the resting poppy. It avoids diseases and needs no support, reaching a height of around sixty to eighty centimeters. Just watch out for field voles, which might develop a taste for its fleshy roots. Thanks to this procedure, they will stay beautiful for about four days in a vase and add amazing lightness to bouquets. Although these delicate flowers are not suitable for drying, they simply have no competition in fresh spring bouquets.

Aster novi-belgii Fellowship
It originates from the northeastern USA and southern Canada, where it grows in damp areas, scrublands, and on coasts. It crosses very willingly with other aster species, resulting in an inexhaustible number of varieties. Unlike New England asters, they do not close their flowers at night or during unfavorable weather, making them perfect for cutting into vases. We must keep in mind their susceptibility to mildew, which can be prevented by choosing a suitable location. They last 7 to 10 days in a vase. Fellowship is large-flowered, profusely blooming, and of taller growth. The pink-colored flowers with yellow centers have a diameter of up to 3 cm.

Pokud hledáte nenáročnou trvalku, která vám provoní zahradu medovou vůní a zároveň vyřeší problém s vlhkým místem, je tento kultivar skvělou volbou. Tužebník 'Kahome' prosperuje tam, kde je půda stále vlhká, humózní a klidně i jílovitá. Jeho přirozeným prostředím jsou břehy vodních ploch a mokřady, proto se mu bude skvěle dařit u zahradního jezírka nebo v místech, kde se po dešti drží voda. Stanoviště může být na plném slunci i v polostínu. Na slunném místě pokvete o něco bohatěji, ale bude vyžadovat, abyste opravdu dbali na to, že půda nikdy zcela nevyschne. V polostínu jsou nároky na zálivku o něco menší, ale vlhkost je stále klíčová.
Při výsadbě zakoupené sazenice dbejte na to, aby byla půda dobře prokypřená a obohacená o organickou hmotu, která funguje jako houba zadržující vodu. Rostliny sázejte do sponu zhruba 30 až 40 cm od sebe. Vzhledem k tomu, že jde o dlouhověkou trvalku, která se na místě bude rozrůstat mnoho let, vyplatí se věnovat přípravě půdy pozornost. Sazenice v kontejneru můžete sázet od jara do podzimu. Po výsadbě je nutné rostlinu intenzivně zalévat, dokud plně nezakoření. Díky své kompaktní výšce kolem 40–50 cm se rostlina nemusí vyvazovat k opoře, stonky jsou dostatečně pevné a drží si svůj tvar i za větru či deště.
Údržba během roku je minimální a zvládne ji každý začátečník. Velkou výhodou tohoto tužebníku je, že netrpí na žádné specifické choroby ani škůdce, takže nemusíte používat žádnou chemii. Stačí se soustředit na zálivku – symbol tří kapek (💧💧💧) v atributech naznačuje, že sucho je jeho úhlavním nepřítelem. Květy se objevují od června do srpna a lákají včely a další opylovače. Pokud si chcete kousek léta přenést domů, neváhejte květenství stříhat do kytic, ve vodě vydrží dlouho krásná. Po odkvětu a s příchodem prvních mrazů se rostlina zatáhne. Je plně mrazuvzdorná až do extrémních teplot, takže přečká zimu bez úhony. Na jaře stačí odstranit staré suché listy a stonky řezem těsně nad zemí, čímž podpoříte rašení nových, zdravých výhonů.
Častým dotazem je pěstování tužebníku v nádobách. Ano, kultivar 'Kahome' je pro to díky svému nízkému vzrůstu vhodný, ale má to svá specifika. V truhlíku nebo květináči má rostlina omezený prostor pro kořeny a zásobu vody. Doporučujeme proto použít samozavlažovací nádoby nebo dostatečně velké květináče s kvalitním substrátem pro balkonové rostliny, který nevysychá tak rychle. I tak bude rostlina v nádobě vyžadovat vaši každodenní pozornost se zálivkou, a to zejména v horkých letních dnech. Pokud byste ji v nádobě zapomněli zalít, velmi rychle zvadne a listy mohou nevratně zaschnout.

Dropwort is our native drought-tolerant perennial that, thanks to its tuberously thickened roots, easily copes with even very dry locations. In nature, you will find it on sunlit slopes and dry meadows, making it an ideal choice for gravel beds or natural-style gardens where you don't have to worry too much about watering. It forms basal rosettes of finely divided, fern-like leaves, from which stems carrying rich inflorescences emerge in June and July.
