The Oriental poppy originates from the Caucasus, Turkey, and Iran, where it grows on rocky slopes and dry meadows. It blooms with large bowl-shaped flowers on tall stems. Like all poppies, for use in bouquets, we harvest them as soon as the buds color up and "crack". Additionally, we briefly (for about 20 seconds) sear the ends of the stems with a flame and immediately place them in cold water. Then they last in a vase for 4 days. The strikingly hairy and large leaves die back shortly after flowering, and the plant must rest until spring to gather strength. A portion of the leaves sprouts again in late summer. Therefore, it is advisable to plant other perennials in close proximity that sprout later and can draw attention to themselves during the poppy's pause. Royal Wedding flowers have white petals with a dark burgundy spot in the center of the flower.

Cultivation
Tužebník 'Venusta' je rostlina, která doslova miluje vodu, a podle toho pro ni musíme vybrat to nejlepší místo. Ideálním stanovištěm je břeh zahradního jezírka, potůčku nebo jakákoliv prohlubeň v zahradě, kde se přirozeně drží vlhkost. Sazenice sázejte na plné slunce nebo do mírného polostínu; ve stínu by sice rostlina přežila, ale kvetla by méně ochotně. Půda by měla být těžší, jílovitá nebo hlinitá, ale především bohatá na živiny a humus. Na rozdíl od mnoha jiných trvalek, tužebník nesnáší sucho, proto se vyhněte písčitým a rychle vysychajícím místům, ledaže byste mu zajistili automatickou a vydatnou závlahu.
Samotná výsadba sazenic je jednoduchá, ale je třeba myslet na budoucí rozměry této majestátní trvalky. Dodržujte rozestup alespoň 60 cm mezi jednotlivými rostlinami (přibližně 2 rostliny na metr čtvereční), aby měly dostatek prostoru pro cirkulaci vzduchu a rozvoj kořenového systému. Ihned po výsadbě rostlinu důkladně zalijte a v zálivce pokračujte pravidelně, dokud tužebník pořádně nezakoření. Vlhkost je klíčem k úspěchu – půda by měla být stále mírně mokrá. Pokud pěstujete tužebník na běžném záhoně a ne přímo u vody, doporučujeme okolí rostliny zamulčovat kůrou, což výrazně pomůže udržet vláhu v zemi.
Péče během roku je u této rostliny minimální, což z ní dělá ideální volbu i pro začínající zahradníky. Tužebník je robustní a podle našich zkušeností netrpí na škůdce ani choroby, takže chemické postřiky můžete nechat ve skříni. Co se týče hnojení, na jaře mu prospěje přídavek kompostu nebo organického hnojiva pro podporu bujného růstu a bohatého kvetení. Odkvetlá květenství můžete odstraňovat, čímž podpoříte tvorbu nových listů a udržíte rostlinu v kondici, ale není to nutné. Naopak, suchá květenství vypadají v zimě velmi efektně, zvláště když je pokryje jinovatka. Na jaře pak stačí staré stonky seříznout těsně nad zemí.
Často se ptáte, zda lze tuto krásku pěstovat v nádobách. Ačkoliv je tužebník 'Venusta' primárně záhonová a pobřežní rostlina, pěstování v květináči je možné, pokud splníte jednu zásadní podmínku: nikdy nesmí vyschnout. Budete potřebovat velkou, hlubokou nádobu s kvalitním substrátem, který dobře drží vodu (můžete přimíchat jíl). Květináč by měl stát v hlubší podmisce, ve které může trvale stát voda, což by většinu jiných rostlin zahubilo, ale tužebníku to vyhovuje. Počítejte však s tím, že v nádobě rostlina pravděpodobně nedosáhne takové výšky jako ve volné půdě a bude vyžadovat každodenní kontrolu zálivky.

An undemanding and modest perennial that blooms with a large number of tiny flowers. It blooms for a record-breaking length of time throughout late summer and autumn. It forms smaller, compact, airy bushes that release a minty-spicy scent. The thyme-like flowers attract bees, bumblebees, and butterflies.
