Cultivation
Kuklík potoční je velmi nenáročná trvalka, kterou snadno zvládnou pěstovat i začátečníci. Jelikož dostanete již dobře prokořeněnou sazenici, můžete ji rovnou vysadit na trvalé stanoviště. Nejlépe se jí daří na slunci nebo v polostínu, ideálně v místech, která připomínají její přirozené prostředí vlhkých luk a břehů. Půda by měla být hlinitá, jílovitá nebo humózní, s dobrou schopností zadržovat vláhu. Při výsadbě dodržujte spon zhruba 30 cm, což vychází na 9 až 12 rostlin na metr čtvereční. Tento rozestup zajistí dostatečnou cirkulaci vzduchu. Ačkoliv rostlina netrpí na škůdce ani choroby, v příliš zahuštěné výsadbě a při extrémním zamokření by se mohlo ojediněle objevit padlí.
Pro úspěšné pěstování a bohaté kvetení doporučujeme dodržovat tyto základní kroky:
- Zálivka: Kuklík miluje vlhkost. Zvláště v letních měsících dbejte na to, aby půda nevyschla.
- Hnojení: Nepotřebuje žádná speciální hnojiva, na jaře bohatě postačí přidat k rostlině kvalitní kompost.
- Nádoby a truhlíky: Pokud nemáte zahradu, rostlina je pro pěstování v nádobách skvělou volbou. Zvolte květináč s odtokovými otvory, humózní substrát a pravidelně zalévejte.
- Sklizeň květů: Od května do července tvoří pastelově zbarvené jedlé květy. Pokud je chcete do vázy, stříhejte je při rozvití čtvrtiny až poloviny květů. Pro sušení se však nehodí.
Tato trvalka je vysoce odolná a bez problémů zvládne i silné mrazy až do -28 °C, takže nevyžaduje žádnou zimní ochranu ani oporu pro své stonky. Ačkoliv se neřadí mezi dlouhověké trvalky, ochotně se na záhonu sama přesévá a udržuje se tak na místě po mnoho let. Její životnost navíc můžete prodloužit tím, že starší trsy na jaře nebo na podzim rozdělíte. Po odkvětu nemusíte rostlinu nijak radikálně stříhat. Odkvetlé hlavičky naopak nechte na stoncích, přes zimu vytvoří na zahradě velmi půvabný dekorativní efekt.

Původní druhy tohoto kuklíku pocházejí z horských luk Balkánu a Malé Asie, kde rostou na slunných či polostinných stanovištích. V zahradě je to vděčná a nenáročná trvalka, která potěší i začínající pěstitele. Vytváří přízemní růžici svěže zelených listů, které často přetrvávají i přes zimu a zdobí tak zahradu celoročně. Od května do července se nad listy tyčí stonky nesoucí nápadné miskovité květy. Ty jsou velkým lákadlem pro včely a další opylovače. The cultivar Caradonna stands out with a long flowering period and dark, almost black-purple stems with tiny purple flowers and dark purple bracts.
