Unlike lupines, however, it does not suffer from fungal diseases and does not taste as good to slugs. Native Americans used Baptisia roots to disinfect wounds and reduce fever, and the leaves to dye fabrics. Kuklík Borisii je dodáván jako zapěstovaná sazenice, kterou můžete po rozbalení ihned vysadit na trvalé stanoviště. Této nenáročné trvalce se bude nejlépe dařit na slunném stanovišti nebo v lehkém polostínu. Ačkoli snese i přímé polední slunce, je v takovém případě nutné dbát na to, aby půda nikdy zcela nevyschla. Ideální půda by měla být hlinitá, humózní a především dobře propustná. Kuklík nesnáší přemokření, které by mohlo v zimě vést k uhnívání kořenů, ale zároveň vyžaduje půdu, která si dokáže udržet přiměřenou vlhkost.
Při výsadbě dodržujte doporučený spon 30 cm (přibližně 9–12 rostlin na metr čtvereční), aby měly rostliny dostatek prostoru pro svou přízemní růžici listů a zároveň vytvořily pěkný zapojený porost. Sazenici zasaďte tak hluboko, jak rostla v kontejneru, a po výsadbě ji důkladně zalijte. Během vegetační sezóny, zejména v horkých letních dnech, dopřejte rostlině pravidelnou zálivku. Odkvetlé stonky s miskovitými oranžovými květy je vhodné průběžně odstraňovat. Tím nejen podpoříte tvorbu nových poupat, ale také udržíte rostlinu v dobré kondici a prodloužíte dobu kvetení, která trvá od května až do července.
Velkou výhodou tohoto kultivaru je jeho naprostá odolnost vůči chorobám a škůdcům, takže se nemusíte obávat nutnosti chemické ochrany. Kuklík je také plně mrazuvzdorný až do -28 °C (zóna 5a) a nevyžaduje na zimu žádnou speciální ochranu. Jeho svěže zelené listy často přetrvávají i pod sněhem a vytvářejí zajímavý zimní efekt. Mějte však na paměti, že se jedná o krátkověkou trvalku. To znamená, že rostlina vydrží na stanovišti v plné síle několik let (obvykle 3–4 roky), poté může začít stárnout. Pro udržení vitality porostu je vhodné starší trsy na jaře nebo na podzim rozdělit a přesadit.
Pokud nemáte zahradu, Kuklík Borisii je skvělou volbou i pro pěstování v nádobách. Pro jednu rostlinu zvolte květináč o průměru alespoň 20–25 cm s odtokovým otvorem. Na dno nádoby dejte vrstvu drenáže (štěrk nebo keramzit), aby kořeny nestály ve vodě. V nádobách substrát vysychá rychleji než ve volné půdě, proto kontrolujte vlhkost častěji, v létě i denně. Díky své kompaktní výšce 30–50 cm nebude v truhlíku přepadávat a vytvoří krásnou barevnou dominantu balkonu či terasy.
