Mallow Brilliant

False Mallow is a beautiful long-blooming perennial. Its inflorescence resembles miniature hollyhocks or mallow. It pairs well with classic rose combinations as well as wilder beds with grasses.

A beautiful, though rather short-lived, perennial, ideal for steppe areas alongside delicate xerophilous grasses and perennials. For bouquets, harvest when approximately half of the flowers in the inflorescence are open. It lasts about 5 days in a vase. An exceptional cultivar with flowers in peach and apricot tones, transitioning to an elegant old rose as they fade.

The Chain Plant is a native plant of the eastern regions of North America, where it grows on riverbanks and in moist meadows. It forms upright, bushy clumps that spread into the surroundings via root suckers. The flowers have the shape of a slender spike with four rows of tubular flowers and resemble snapdragon flowers. Harvest when the first flowers in the inflorescence open; they will continue to bloom in the vase. In a bouquet, they are a suitable accompaniment for dahlias and last 10–14 days in a vase. The spent flower spikes with seeds are interesting and also suitable for drying. Alba has pure white flowers and spreads well.

Catananche is a medium-tall, short-lived perennial. It originates from the Mediterranean and is therefore suitable for areas with milder winters. Attractive blue flowers that resemble chicory. The undeveloped flower buds are also beautiful, as are the silvery faded inflorescences. Also suitable for drying. Fresh, they last 7 days in a vase.

Broadleaf sea lavender, also known as Statice, is a plant originally from the steppe regions of Southern Europe. Leathery leaves form basal rosettes, from which veiled panicles of tiny, light lavender-colored flowers emerge. Perfect for bouquets; for drying, harvest when the flowers are fully colored.

Verbascum southern is a native European perennial. It grows on sunny, stony slopes. The cultivar 'Sixteen Candles' has yellow flowers with purple, fuzzy stamens. The leaves are grey-green and felt-like. Like all Verbascum, it's a great attraction for bees and bumblebees.

Gaura is a clump-forming perennial native to Texas and Louisiana. In our climate, it behaves more like a short-lived perennial. It combines beautifully with grasses and adds lightness and airiness to flowerbeds. It is an excellent food source for insects. Tiny, butterfly-like flowers bloom tirelessly from June until the first frosts. For bouquets, we harvest as soon as the first two to three flowers open on the stem. Siskiyou Pink is a beautiful variety with rose-red flowers on slightly arched stems. Less hardy than white-flowering varieties. The red-spotted leaves are also interesting.

Solidaster is a perennial resulting from a cross between goldenrods and asters. It is attractive for its color-changing flowers. They bloom bright yellow and change through creamy to milky white. The florets are slightly larger than those of goldenrod. It is suitable for cutting and lasts 10 days in a vase.

A magnificent plant with a feathery, cymose inflorescence of sweet pink color. It smells pleasant, and the pinnate dark green leaves are also aromatic. Unlike meadowsweet, it loves moisture, making it excellently suited for waterlogged areas and ponds. It lasts 7 days in a vase. The cultivar 'Kahome' blooms with fluffy, intensely pink clouds of flowers that spread a honey-like scent around them.

Hellebores are evergreen perennials that form slowly spreading clumps of leathery, dark green leaves. Stems typically bear four to five flowers. They bloom very early, in late winter and early spring. They are suitable for vases only after prominent seed pods form in the center of the flower and the flower matures. Before that, they tend to wilt and the stems cannot hold the flower upright. All parts of the plant are poisonous. The semi-double flowers of Hellebore Double Ellen Picotee are colored white and light pink with a purple-burgundy border.

Penstemon digitalis 'Husker Red' is a relatively robust and long-lived perennial with attractive bronze-purple foliage and white-purple flowers. The decorative faded inflorescences will adorn your flowerbeds until winter. However, the plant can also be cut back after flowering to encourage new growth. We recommend pruning Penstemon after blooming to encourage new growth. It lasts 5 to 7 days in a vase.

Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum virgatum) is more elegant and slender than the better-known Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria). It also has much airier inflorescences. Its leaves are smooth and narrower, turning a deep red in autumn. Rose Queen is a very pretty, low-growing loosestrife variety with delicate flower spikes. It copes well with slightly less moisture and can be planted in regular beds as well as at the edges of ponds.

Anemones belong to the same family as buttercups. Their elegant flowers on long, slender stems can enliven and brighten late summer and autumn beds. They stand out against a darker background of shrub groups and will also be grateful for their partial shade. The Czech Perennial Society chose autumn anemones as the perennial of the 2022 season. They last 7 days in a vase. Whirlwind is a historic variety bred in 1887 in the USA. It has semi-double pure white flowers, often with inner curled petals, and a compact, strictly upright growth. The flowers are very durable.

A beautiful delicate perennial native to North America. Striking, relatively large but delicate flowers beautifully complement a rich, fluffy cloud of tiny leaves. It forms compact bushes and is ideal for the front of flower beds. Coreopsis are naturally short-lived perennials. Their lifespan can be partially influenced by choosing a suitable location and care throughout the season. The cultivar Limerock Dream is characterized by a delicate warm pink color. Lasts about a week in a vase.

These autumn asters were bred specifically for floristic use. They are characterized by strong, straight, and upright stems and an exceptionally abundant display of flowers. Primavera blooms with larger (about 40 mm) pinkish-purple flowers. Vase life is 10 days.
