Devaterník Sulphureum Plenum je doslova milovník slunce, který rozzáří každou skalku nebo suchou zídku. Původní druhy těchto nízkých polokeřů najdeme na slunných a kamenitých stráních, proto i v zahradě vyžadují propustnou, chudší a spíše písčitou půdu, kde se voda nedrží. Od května do července se rostlina pokryje záplavou drobných plných květů v pastelově žlutém odstínu, které svým tvarem připomínají miniaturní růžičky. Díky svému nízkému a poléhavému růstu se skvěle hodí k lemování záhonů nebo vyplnění spár mezi kameny. Velkou předností je zimní efekt, kdy si rostlina zachovává svěže zelené listí a záhon tak nezůstane prázdný ani pod sněhem. Aby si tento devaterník udržel kompaktní a hustý tvar, doporučujeme jej po odkvětu sestřihnout. Je plně mrazuvzdorný a láká množství opylovačů.

Pro udržení kompaktního, polštářovitého tvaru a bohatého kvetení v dalších letech doporučujeme rostlinu po odkvětu sestřihnout, čímž podpoříte její vitalitu.

Devaterník Bronzeteppich je nenápadný hrdina skalek a suchých zídek, který se v plném slunci doslova rozzáří. Původní botanické druhy těchto polokeřů bychom našli na slunných a kamenitých stráních, kde si poradí i s velmi chudou a propustnou půdou. Právě díky tomuto původu je devaterník mimořádně odolný vůči suchu a miluje sluneční paprsky, které probouzejí záplavu jeho drobných květů. V zahradě funguje jako skvělý půdopokryvný prvek, který svými stálezelenými listy zdobí záhony i v zimních měsících, kdy většina trvalek odpočívá pod zemí.
Odrůda Bronzeteppich, jak už název napovídá, vytváří husté koberce poseté množstvím květů v hřejivém odstínu terakoty a oranžové. Nakvétá postupně od května až do července a stává se tak neodolatelným lákadlem pro včely a další opylovače, kteří v jeho květech nacházejí bohatý zdroj potravy. Dorůstá výšky pouze okolo dvaceti centimetrů, proto se skvěle hodí na okraje záhonů nebo do skalek, kde vyplní prázdná místa mezi kameny. Ačkoliv se nehodí k řezu do vázy ani k sušení, jeho hodnota v živé zahradě je nenahraditelná. Péče o něj je minimální, stačí mu zajistit dobře propustnou písčitou půdu a dostatek slunce, o zbytek se postará sám.

For vases, we harvest as soon as they bloom. Vase life is 7 to 10 days. We can also use dry central discs. Little Henry is a smaller variant of the rudbeckia named after its finder. However, it is about a third shorter and blooms somewhat earlier than the original natural species. Everything else matches. Interestingly shaped flowers with striking brown centers. Yellow ray florets grow from them, rolled into narrow quills.

The cultivar Caradonna stands out with a long flowering period and dark, almost black-purple stems with tiny purple flowers and dark purple bracts. Pěstování devaterníku Sulphureum Plenum je radost i pro úplné začátečníky, protože jde o rostlinu, která za minimum péče nabízí maximum parády. Základem úspěchu je výběr správného stanoviště. Tato trvalka, respektive polokeř, bezpodmínečně vyžaduje plné slunce a teplé místo. Stín jí nesvědčí, v něm málo kvete a vytahuje se. Půda by měla být chudá, velmi dobře propustná, ideálně písčitá nebo kamenitá. Pokud máte na zahradě těžkou jílovitou zeminu, je nutné při výsadbě přimíchat písek nebo drobný štěrk, aby voda rychle odtékala. Devaterník nesnáší přemokření, které je pro něj nebezpečnější než sucho.
Při výsadbě dodržujte spon přibližně 30 cm, což odpovídá asi 9 až 12 rostlinám na metr čtvereční, pokud chcete vytvořit souvislý koberec. Sazenici zasaďte tak hluboko, jak byla v květináči, a po výsadbě ji zalijte. Jakmile rostlina zakoření, stává se velmi tolerantní vůči suchu a zálivku vyžaduje pouze v extrémně horkých a suchých obdobích. Hnojení není nutné, naopak v příliš výživné půdě rostlina bujně roste na úkor kvetení a může ztrácet svou mrazuvzdornost. Velkou výhodou tohoto kultivaru je jeho odolnost vůči chorobám a škůdcům, takže chemická ochrana zpravidla není třeba.
Klíčovým krokem v péči o devaterník je letní řez. Ihned po odkvětu, což bývá v průběhu července, doporučujeme rostlinu sestřihnout zhruba o třetinu až polovinu délky výhonů. Tento zásah podpoří tvorbu nových, hustých výhonů, udrží kompaktní tvar bochánku a zabrání vyholování středu rostliny. Vzhledem k tomu, že je devaterník stálezelený a zdobí zahradu i v zimě (tzv. zimní efekt), neprovádíme řez na podzim ani na jaře, abychom se neipřipravili o listovou okrasu. Rostlina je plně mrazuvzdorná (až do -23 °C), ale v holomrazech jí může prospět lehké přikrytí chvojím, které zabrání vysušení listů zimním sluncem.
Devaterník se skvěle hodí i pro pěstování v nádobách či truhlíkách na slunných terasách a balkonech. Při pěstování v květináči je naprosto nezbytné zajistit dokonalý odtok vody. Na dno nádoby dejte vrstvu keramzitu nebo štěrku a použijte substrát smíchaný s pískem v poměru 1:1. V nádobách zemina promrzá rychleji než ve volné půdě, proto je vhodné květináč na zimu obalit jutou nebo polystyrenem a v bezmrazých dnech mírně zalít, aby rostlina neuschla.

Devaterník Bronzeteppich je nenápadný hrdina skalek a suchých zídek, který se v plném slunci doslova rozzáří. Původní botanické druhy těchto polokeřů bychom našli na slunných a kamenitých stráních, kde si poradí i s velmi chudou a propustnou půdou. Právě díky tomuto původu je devaterník mimořádně odolný vůči suchu a miluje sluneční paprsky, které probouzejí záplavu jeho drobných květů. V zahradě funguje jako skvělý půdopokryvný prvek, který svými stálezelenými listy zdobí záhony i v zimních měsících, kdy většina trvalek odpočívá pod zemí.
Odrůda Bronzeteppich, jak už název napovídá, vytváří husté koberce poseté množstvím květů v hřejivém odstínu terakoty a oranžové. Nakvétá postupně od května až do července a stává se tak neodolatelným lákadlem pro včely a další opylovače, kteří v jeho květech nacházejí bohatý zdroj potravy. Dorůstá výšky pouze okolo dvaceti centimetrů, proto se skvěle hodí na okraje záhonů nebo do skalek, kde vyplní prázdná místa mezi kameny. Ačkoliv se nehodí k řezu do vázy ani k sušení, jeho hodnota v živé zahradě je nenahraditelná. Péče o něj je minimální, stačí mu zajistit dobře propustnou písčitou půdu a dostatek slunce, o zbytek se postará sám.

Gaura is a clump-forming perennial native to Texas and Louisiana. Here, it behaves more like a short-lived perennial. It combines beautifully with grasses and adds lightness and airiness to flower beds. It is an excellent food source for insects. In flower beds, it looks best in groups. Traditionally, due to the identical flowering time, it is planted as a companion to roses. However, it will look just as good in mixed drought-loving steppe plantings with grasses. It lasts 7 days in a vase. The cultivar Caradonna stands out with a long flowering period and dark, almost black-purple stems with tiny purple flowers and dark purple bracts. If we cut it back after flowering, it will bloom again in late August and September.
