Although it is a short-lived perennial, its lifespan can easily be extended by planting it in a drier location, where it handles severe frosts without issue. Sazenici krásnoočka 'Zagreb' vysazujte ideálně na plné slunce. Před samotnou výsadbou je dobré sazenici i s původním obalem důkladně prolít vodou, aby se kořenový bal nasytil a po přesazení se mnohem lépe ujal. Na zahradě vybírejte horká slunná místa, kde se rostlině bude dařit nejlépe a odmění se vám bohatou záplavou drobných zlatavých květů. Pro úspěšné pěstování je velmi důležitá správná volba půdy. Ta by měla být hlinitá a velmi dobře propustná, protože rostlina výborně snáší i sušší podmínky, ale naopak nesnáší přemokření, obzvláště to zimní. Při výsadbě na záhon dodržujte spon 30 až 40 centimetrů, což odpovídá zhruba sedmi až devíti rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Takto zvolená vzdálenost zajistí rostlinám dostatek prostoru pro vytvoření hustých a kompaktních keříčků, které nebudou potřebovat žádnou dodatečnou oporu.
Během sezóny je péče o krásnoočko velmi snadná, což z něj dělá perfektní volbu pro úplné začátečníky. Rostlina spolehlivě odolává všem běžným škůdcům i chorobám, takže se zcela obejdete bez jakýchkoliv chemických postřiků a ušetříte si spoustu starostí. Zálivku vyžaduje pouze mírnou; po dobrém zakořenění si hravě poradí s delšími obdobími letního sucha, proto zalévejte až tehdy, kdy půda na povrchu viditelně proschne. Hnojení není nutné nijak přehánět, stačí na jaře přidat do okolí rostliny trochu kvalitního uleželého kompostu, který dodá potřebné živiny pro celou sezónu. Chcete-li rostlinu udržet v plném květu co nejdéle, tedy od června až do září, doporučujeme průběžně odstraňovat odkvetlé květy. Krásnoočko navíc přitahuje včely i další užitečné opylovače, takže vaše zahrada díky němu doslova ožije.
Ačkoliv se jedná primárně o krátkověkou trvalku, můžete její životnost na zahradě výrazně prodloužit tím, že pro ni vyberete sušší a teplejší stanoviště. Tento druh je dobře mrazuvzdorný a bez potíží zvládne i velmi silné mrazy, jelikož snese teploty až do -40 °C. Jediným skutečným rizikem je již zmíněné zimní přemokření kořenů, které může způsobit uhnívání. Proto jako preventivní krok proti přílišné zimní vlhkosti a případným holomrazům můžete rostliny na podzim lehce ochránit přikrytím vrstvou smrkového chvojí.
Krásnoočko 'Zagreb' lze bez problémů pěstovat i v nádobách a větších truhlících na balkonech či slunných terasách. Pokud se pro tuto variantu rozhodnete, pamatujte, že květináč musí mít na dně dostatečně velký odtokový otvor a pořádnou drenážní vrstvu ze štěrku nebo keramzitu, aby přebytečná voda po zálivce či dešti mohla vždy rychle odtékat. Pro výsadbu použijte kvalitní substrát na trvalky, který doporučujeme vylehčit pískem. V omezeném prostoru nádoby substrát vysychá rychleji než ve volné půdě, proto zálivku pečlivě přizpůsobte aktuálnímu počasí a rostlinu nenechte dlouhodobě trápit žízní. Na zimu je ideální květináče schovat do bezmrazé, ale chladné místnosti a zalévat opravdu jen velmi opatrně, případně nádobu venku důkladně zaizolovat.
