Avens Lemon Drops is a smaller perennial that will win you over with its delicate flowers in a lemon-yellow shade. The original avens species are often found in moister meadows and forest edges, so in the garden, too, it will appreciate humous and well-drained soil that does not dry out completely. This variety forms low, compact clumps of fresh green leaves that remain attractive for most of the year and can persist even under snow in milder winters. In May and June, tiny, semi-double flowers hover above the leaves, looking very airy and elegant. The plant is a great choice for edging flowerbeds or for rockeries, where its fine texture stands out. The flowers are also suitable for cutting into smaller spring bouquets, to which they add playfulness and lightness. Although it is a rather short-lived perennial, it is fully frost-resistant and its cultivation can be handled even by a complete beginner. Avens Totally Tangerine
Avens Totally Tangerine will brighten any garden with its cup-shaped flowers in warm shades that resemble the color of ripe tangerines. The original botanical species of this cute avens originate from the mountainous regions of Chile, which is why it thrives best even in our conditions in well-drained, humus-rich, and loamy soil. It handles frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees without problems, and even complete beginners can easily handle caring for it, as it does not suffer from diseases or pests. You will get an already grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply transplant straight into the flowerbed in sun or partial shade. It is ideal to plant the plants about half a meter apart. Here it will soon form a dense clump of green leaves, from which sturdy stems up to ninety centimeters tall emerge, and they do not need any support.
Although it is a short-lived perennial, it will make up for everything with its incredible persistence in blooming. Unlike other avens, the Totally Tangerine variety starts its blooming season a little later, but in return, it will delight you without a break from May to September. The semi-double flowers also gradually transition into a deep salmon to dark peach color and are a literal magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. In a flowerbed, it functions excellently as a filler plant, nicely connecting other perennials with its neutral structure.
You will also enjoy the blooming avens at home. It is excellently suited for cutting into summer bouquets. We recommend cutting the stems when a quarter to half of the flowers on the branch are already open. They will then last about a week in a vase and gently liven up any arrangement. Although it is not suitable for drying, it will do a lot of work in the flowerbed even through winter, when its foliage and remains of stems create an interesting winter effect under frost or snow.

Phlomis, sometimes nicknamed Jerusalem sage, is a valuable perennial bringing a Mediterranean atmosphere to the garden. Originally from the Greek islands and Turkey, this plant is accustomed to harsher conditions, thanks to which it perfectly handles our hot summers and poorer, well-drained soils. At our farm, it was always a struggle to find beautiful full and large flowers for bouquets at that time. But we succeeded! We filled the vacuum with China asters and peony-type poppies. These poppies reliably replace the peony, ranunculus, and Dahlia. You just have to keep in mind that they don't last long in bloom and need a little care to hold in a bouquet. We harvest a cracked bud, scald the ends of the stems for a few seconds in water, and let them finish blooming in a vase.

Kuklík Lemon Drops je vděčná trvalka, která do vaší zahrady vnese svěžest, pokud jí dopřejete humózní a nevysychavou půdu. Ideálním místem je pro něj okraj záhonu na slunci či v mírném polostínu, kde vynikne jeho jemná textura. Při přípravě půdy se vyhněte těžkým jílovitým podkladům, které v zimě zadržují příliš mnoho vody; pokud takovou půdu máte, vylehčete ji pískem a listovkou. Sazenice sázejte do úrovně, v jaké byly v kontejneru, a po výsadbě je důkladně zalijte. Díky své nenáročnosti je rostlina vhodná i pro začínající zahradníky, kteří ocení její odolnost vůči běžným chorobám i škůdcům. Na jaře rostlinu potěšíte dávkou plného hnojiva nebo vrstvou kompostu rozprostřenou kolem trsu, což podpoří násadu citrónově žlutých květů.
Specifikem kuklíků je jejich tendence být spíše krátkověkými trvalkami, což však lze snadno vyřešit pravidelnou údržbou. Aby vám rostlina dělala radost mnoho let, je nutné ji pravidelně zmlazovat dělením. Jakmile si všimnete, že střed trsu začíná řídnout nebo rostlina méně kvete (obvykle po 2–3 letech), vykopejte ji, rýčem nebo ostrým nožem rozdělte na menší části a ty znovu vysaďte. Tímto jednoduchým zásahem, který se provádí brzy na jaře nebo po odkvětu, si rostlinu namnožíte a udržíte ji v perfektní kondici. Po odkvětu v květnu a červnu je také vhodné sestřihnout stonky se zvadlými květy až u země, což rostlině dodá energii a udrží kompaktní bochánek listů atraktivní po zbytek sezóny.
Díky nízkému vzrůstu a mrazuvzdornosti je Lemon Drops excelentní volbou pro celoroční pěstování ve venkovních nádobách. V zimě, kdy teploty klesají hluboko pod bod mrazu, je rostlina ve volné půdě zcela bezpečná, avšak v nádobách doporučujeme kořenový bal chránit obalením květináče jutou nebo polystyrenem, aby nepromrzl ze stran. Listy, které v mírnějších zimách zůstávají zelené, vytvářejí pěkný efekt i v chladných měsících. Na jaře stačí trsy očistit od starých listů a rostlina rychle obrazí. Nezapomínejte, že květy lákají včely a další opylovače, takže i při pěstování na balkoně či terase přispějete k podpoře užitečného hmyzu ve svém okolí.

The Mai Tai cultivar, which was bred in the USA in 2005, is characterized by its amazing color variability. It blooms in peach tones with a pink tint and gradually transitions into more muted pastel, salmon, and apricot shades. Blooming avens is a huge attraction for insects, especially for butterflies. We cut the stems for a vase when roughly a quarter to half of the flowers on the stem are open. They will stay beautiful in water for approximately seven days and add lightness and movement to an arrangement. However, its flowers are not suitable for drying. Although it is more of a short-lived perennial, it will bring you a lot of joy in the flowerbed with its rich flowers and undemanding nature.

Water avens is a charming native perennial that inherently belongs to moist meadows and stream banks. In the garden, it thrives best in loamy or clay soil that retains plenty of moisture. It grows excellently in both full sun and partial shade. You will receive a well-rooted seedling in a pot from us, which you simply transplant into the flower bed, where it will soon form a nice ground cover. From May to July, it blooms with semi-double flowers on stems thirty to sixty centimeters tall. They have a cup-like shape and play with pastel yellow, dusty pink, and cream shades with a purplish calyx. Unlike cultivated garden avens, it differs in the structure of its flowers, which droop on the stems like delicate little bells. The edible flowers reliably attract pollinators. Although it is a short-lived perennial, it willingly self-seeds, requires no support, and playfully handles severe frosts. Moreover, it does not suffer from diseases or pests. The faded seed heads decorate the garden even through the winter. Water avens is great for spring bouquets; we cut the stems when a quarter to a half of the flowers are open. Although it is a short-lived perennial, it will make up for everything with its incredible persistence in blooming. Unlike other avens, the Totally Tangerine variety starts its blooming season a little later, but in return, it will delight you without a break from May to September. The semi-double flowers also gradually transition into a deep salmon to dark peach color and are a literal magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies.
