Kuklík Lemon Drops je drobnější trvalka, která si vás získá svými něžnými květy v odstínu citrónové žluté. Původní druhy kuklíků najdeme často na vlhčích loukách a okrajích lesů, proto i v zahradě ocení humózní a dobře propustnou půdu, která zcela nevysychá. Tato odrůda tvoří nízké kompaktní trsy svěže zelených listů, které zůstávají atraktivní po většinu roku a v mírnějších zimách mohou přetrvat i pod sněhem. V květnu a červnu se nad listy vznášejí drobné, poloplné květy, které působí velmi vzdušně a elegantně. Rostlina je skvělou volbou pro lemování záhonů nebo do skalek, kde vynikne její jemná textura. Květy jsou vhodné i k řezu do menších jarních kytiček, kterým dodají hravost a lehkost. Ačkoliv se jedná o spíše krátkověkou trvalku, je plně mrazuvzdorná a její pěstování zvládne i úplný začátečník. Kuklík Lemon Drops je vděčná trvalka, která do vaší zahrady vnese svěžest, pokud jí dopřejete humózní a nevysychavou půdu. Ideálním místem je pro něj okraj záhonu na slunci či v mírném polostínu, kde vynikne jeho jemná textura. Při přípravě půdy se vyhněte těžkým jílovitým podkladům, které v zimě zadržují příliš mnoho vody; pokud takovou půdu máte, vylehčete ji pískem a listovkou. Sazenice sázejte do úrovně, v jaké byly v kontejneru, a po výsadbě je důkladně zalijte. Díky své nenáročnosti je rostlina vhodná i pro začínající zahradníky, kteří ocení její odolnost vůči běžným chorobám i škůdcům. Na jaře rostlinu potěšíte dávkou plného hnojiva nebo vrstvou kompostu rozprostřenou kolem trsu, což podpoří násadu citrónově žlutých květů.

Specifikem kuklíků je jejich tendence být spíše krátkověkými trvalkami, což však lze snadno vyřešit pravidelnou údržbou. Aby vám rostlina dělala radost mnoho let, je nutné ji pravidelně zmlazovat dělením. Jakmile si všimnete, že střed trsu začíná řídnout nebo rostlina méně kvete (obvykle po 2–3 letech), vykopejte ji, rýčem nebo ostrým nožem rozdělte na menší části a ty znovu vysaďte. Tímto jednoduchým zásahem, který se provádí brzy na jaře nebo po odkvětu, si rostlinu namnožíte a udržíte ji v perfektní kondici. Po odkvětu v květnu a červnu je také vhodné sestřihnout stonky se zvadlými květy až u země, což rostlině dodá energii a udrží kompaktní bochánek listů atraktivní po zbytek sezóny.

Díky nízkému vzrůstu a mrazuvzdornosti je Lemon Drops excelentní volbou pro celoroční pěstování ve venkovních nádobách. V zimě, kdy teploty klesají hluboko pod bod mrazu, je rostlina ve volné půdě zcela bezpečná, avšak v nádobách doporučujeme kořenový bal chránit obalením květináče jutou nebo polystyrenem, aby nepromrzl ze stran. Listy, které v mírnějších zimách zůstávají zelené, vytvářejí pěkný efekt i v chladných měsících. Na jaře stačí trsy očistit od starých listů a rostlina rychle obrazí. Nezapomínejte, že květy lákají včely a další opylovače, takže i při pěstování na balkoně či terase přispějete k podpoře užitečného hmyzu ve svém okolí.

In flower beds, it looks best in groups. Traditionally, due to the identical flowering time, it is planted as a companion to roses. However, it will look just as good in mixed drought-loving steppe plantings with grasses. It lasts 7 days in a vase. The cultivar Caradonna stands out with a long flowering period and dark, almost black-purple stems with tiny purple flowers and dark purple bracts. If we cut it back after flowering, it will bloom again in late August and September.

Achillea filipendulina

Fernleaf Yarrow originates from the Caucasus and Central Asia. Unlike Common Yarrow, it grows in clumps and is also suitable for drying. Cutting back soon after flowering encourages re-blooming. However, if you decide to leave the spent stems in the beds, you gain a perfect structure that remains impressive long into winter. The leaves of this species emit a typical bitter Yarrow aroma. It lasts 10 days in a vase.
