It has nice, fresh green leaves that form a perfect background for the blue, delicately scented flowers. These attract pollinators and the plants are suitable for cutting. It is just necessary to keep in mind that, like all clematis, they are poisonous and can irritate sensitive skin.

This species of knotweed originates from the Himalayas and China, where it grows in scrub and on mountain meadows along streams at high altitudes. It forms sturdy clumps of fresh green, pointed leaves. Above them, upright, narrow, candle-like inflorescences composed of individual tiny flowers appear from summer onwards. It is a very popular perennial, recently bred into many cultivars and used in Western Europe in larger park and garden landscaping. It excels with a long flowering period in late summer and good durability in a vase. It was voted Perennial of the Season 2023 by the Czech Perennials Association. The white variety Alba stands out particularly well against a darker background and has long-lasting flowers.

Cultivation
Pěstování bylinného plaménku je naprostá radost a skvělá volba pro začínající pěstitele. Na rozdíl od popínavých druhů tvoří tato odrůda kompaktní keřík vysoký 70 až 90 centimetrů a nepotřebuje vůbec žádnou oporu. Jelikož vám zašleme již vzrostlou sazenici, můžete se hned pustit do výsadby. Nejlépe se mu bude dařit na slunci nebo v lehkém polostínu. Zvolte kvalitní, humózní a hlinitou půdu, která dobře propouští vodu. Pokud máte těžší jílovitou zeminu, doporučujeme ji před výsadbou vylepšit kompostem a hrubším pískem pro lepší provzdušnění. Při práci s rostlinou si vždy preventivně navlékněte rukavice, její šťávy jsou totiž mírně jedovaté.
Tento plamének ocení rovnoměrnou vlhkost, takže ho během suchého léta nezapomínejte pravidelně zalévat. Kořenový systém by měl ideálně zůstat v chladu, což nejlépe zajistíte mulčováním nebo chytrou podsadbou z nižších trvalek. Pokud si chcete oživit balkon, plamének 'New Love' se velmi dobře pěstuje i v prostorných květináčích. Vyberte dostatečně velkou nádobu s odtokovým otvorem, použijte drenáž a kvalitní substrát. Na konci léta se vám rostlina odmění záplavou modrofialových květů, které úžasně voní, lákají včely a další užitečné opylovače.
Zima a silné mrazy pro tuto rostlinu nepředstavují absolutně žádný problém. Pyšní se mrazuvzdorností až do -40 °C. Zcela odpadá také jakýkoliv boj s hmyzem či plísněmi, rostlina je vysoce odolná a roste zcela bez chorob a škůdců. Pro udržení krásného tvaru a dlouhé životnosti si zapamatujte tyto důležité kroky:
- Brzy na jaře proveďte silný zpětný řez a celou rostlinu zkraťte asi na 20 centimetrů nad terénem, čímž podpoříte její vitalitu.
- Dejte si velký pozor při jarním pletí a čištění záhonů.
- Rostlina se ze zimního spánku probouzí poměrně pozdě a snadno byste ji mohli při okopávání nechtěně poškodit.

The cultivar Caradonna stands out with a long flowering period and dark, almost black-purple stems with tiny purple flowers and dark purple bracts. If we cut it back after flowering, it will bloom again in late August and September.
