Although phlox is very easy to grow and even complete beginners can manage the care, it pays to pay attention to the correct choice of location. We send customers already mature seedlings in a pot, which you can easily transplant directly into the garden. Here, phlox thrives best in a sunny to semi-shady location with loamy, humous, and well-drained soil. It is ideal to keep a spacing of about fifty centimeters when planting so that each clump has enough space to grow. They like plenty of moisture, and stable humidity is important to them. The plant takes a break over the warmest summer to gather strength, and a smaller portion of the leaves often sprouts again only at the end of summer. Growing bush clematis is an absolute joy and a great choice for beginner growers. Unlike climbing species, this variety forms a compact shrub 70 to 90 centimeters tall and needs no support at all. Since we will send you an already grown seedling, you can start planting right away. It will thrive best in the sun or light partial shade. Choose high-quality, humous, and loamy soil that drains water well. If you have heavier clay soil, we recommend improving it with compost and coarser sand for better aeration before planting. When working with the plant, always wear gloves as a precaution, because its saps are slightly poisonous.
This clematis appreciates even moisture, so do not forget to water it regularly during a dry summer. The root system should ideally stay cool, which you can best ensure by mulching or clever underplanting with lower perennials. If you want to liven up a balcony, clematis 'New Love' also grows very well in spacious pots. Choose a sufficiently large container with a drainage hole, use drainage and a high-quality substrate. At the end of summer, the plant will reward you with a flood of blue-purple flowers that smell amazing and attract bees and other beneficial pollinators.
Winter and severe frosts pose absolutely no problem for this plant. It boasts frost resistance down to -40 °C. Any battle with insects or molds is also completely eliminated; the plant is highly resilient and grows entirely disease and pest-free.
