Filipendula hybridum

Fluffy deep pink clouds of flowers are the main distinguishing feature of this meadowsweet. The 'Kahome' cultivar is a compact perennial reaching a height of around 40 to 50 centimeters, making it a great addition to the foreground of damper flowerbeds. The entire plant, including the dark green leaves, smells pleasant, and the flowers also spread an irresistible honey aroma around them. It is a rewarding and low-maintenance plant suitable even for beginners, you just need to keep in mind that it requires plenty of moisture for its happy growth. It is perfectly suited for waterlogged parts of gardens and the edges of ponds, where it naturally thrives. You can also use the inflorescences in summer bouquets; they will stay fresh in a vase for about seven days.

Filipendula vulgaris

Dropwort is our native drought-tolerant perennial that, thanks to its tuberously thickened roots, easily copes with even very dry locations. In nature, you will find it on sunlit slopes and dry meadows, making it an ideal choice for gravel beds or natural-style gardens where you don't have to worry too much about watering. It forms basal rosettes of finely divided, fern-like leaves, from which stems carrying rich inflorescences emerge in June and July. Floristically valuable are its fragrant milky white to creamy inflorescences, which attract a large number of bees and other insects. The flowers have a pleasant scent and stay fresh in a vase for about a week. The buds themselves are already highly decorative, looking like tiny pearls before blooming, and they also put on a great show after flowering when they turn into small stars. The plant is fully frost-hardy and absolutely undemanding to grow.

Filipendula vulgaris

Dropwort 'Plena' is a drought-tolerant native perennial that naturally handles even very dry habitats thanks to its tuberously thickened roots. It forms basal rosettes of finely divided leaves that resemble ferns and decorate the flower bed even when the plant is not currently in bloom. Floristically valuable are its fragrant milky-white inflorescences, which tower at the tops of the stems in June and July. Interesting are the buds themselves, looking like tiny pearls, as well as the post-bloom stage in the form of small stars. In a vase, they last about a week and perfectly complement meadow bouquets. The 'Plena' variety boasts flowers that are significantly richer and more double than the basic species, while maintaining its natural hardiness and undemanding nature.

Filipendula ulmaria Variegata

Meadowsweet Variegata brings to the damper corners of the garden not only a flood of tiny flowers, but above all a striking play of colors on its leaves. Unlike the common meadowsweet we know from nature, this variety boasts green leaves with yellow to creamy variegation. Thanks to this, it looks very decorative in flowerbeds throughout the season. It naturally seeks out moist habitats, so if you have a spot on your property that holds water or has heavier clay soil, meadowsweet will thrive there. In summer, it blooms with rich panicles of creamy flowers that spread a typical fragrance around them and attract insects. It is a completely frost-hardy and resilient perennial that is not bothered by pests or diseases. The blooms are also suitable for cutting into bouquets, where they stay beautiful for about a week. Given that it is a robust herb reaching up to a meter in height, it will serve perfectly as a striking solitary plant or a backdrop for lower moisture-loving perennials.
