Wedding Perennial Bed
Whether your queen of flowers is a rose, a hydrangea, or perhaps a peony, this collection can work perfectly as a dignified accompaniment to any of them. It contains mainly plants with smaller, light-colored flowers that will let the main star of your garden shine. But if you are not fond of the ostentation of large flowers, you can use this collection to plant a natural-style sunny or semi-shaded flowerbed. That is what we did in our nursery. We have the flowerbed in sight every day. It thrives in a spot protected from the hot sun for at least part of the day, with good, permeable soil rich in nutrients and the possibility of watering on hot days. From spring on, Narcissus and Hyacinthoides demand attention, and throughout the year, there is a variety of shapes and species of perennials and grasses. They were selected so that the flowerbed does not lose its interest even in autumn and winter, allowing the silhouettes of the faded inflorescences to stand out. And if you were still missing color in this bed, it is easy to add. Use our collection as inspiration and choose alternative cultivars for Phlox, Monarda, Physostegia, and Persicaria. Suddenly your flowerbed will light up with tones of pink, fuchsia, or burgundy. The neutral green base is formed by grasses. Variety is ensured by their differently shaped flowers – the airy panicles of Panicum, bushy Pennisetum, and the drooping flowers of Chasmanthium. If there is enough space left, you can sow Nicotiana seeds, which thrive in both sun and light shade.
When planning, count on an average of six to seven perennials per m², though it always depends on the soil quality in your garden and your intentions. In nutrient-rich and sufficiently moist soil, perennials will grow faster, and the distances between them can be larger at first; in poorer conditions, it is better to plant more densely. The time you can dedicate to garden maintenance will also be a deciding factor.

For example, if you already grow some of the perennials from this collection and just need to supplement your flowerbed, you can keep only your chosen perennials in the cart. Fountain grasses originate from East Asia, where they grow in meadows and light forests. They form hemispherical clumps of narrow leaves which, like the flowers, color up in the autumn. They are suitable for the vase and for drying. The 'Hameln' cultivar is one of the most reliable bloomers in cooler regions. The inflorescences initially have a soft pink tinge, then change color to yellow-brown or reddish-brown.

This is a magnificent double-flowering daffodil with a center composed of rich peach and orange petals interspersed with pure white outer petals. Growing to a height of about forty centimeters, it certainly won't get lost in a flower bed and will beautifully complement other spring bulbs. The Palmares daffodil is exactly the hit you've been looking for if you want something a little different. We explore every powdery, salmon, and apricot-colored daffodil we can get our hands on, and this cultivar absolutely charmed us. Although it is a simple daffodil, its center is made up of beautifully ruffled petals in a soft peach shade. Thanks to this detail, the entire flower has an unexpectedly rich appearance, softened by pure white outer petals. From the large bulbs you receive from us and plant directly into the soil, strong flowers will emerge in the spring. During April and May, these thirty to forty-centimeter-tall beauties will brighten up any sunny or semi-shaded spot in your garden. Palmares is a long-lived perennial and stands out in group plantings. The Spanish Bluebell is a beautiful bulbous plant native to southwestern Europe, where it grows in light deciduous forests. Multiple leaves grow from the bulb, but only one flower stalk. The plant propagates well on its own in the right location via daughter bulbs and seeds, creating colonies. It blooms from May to June. The leaves die back soon after flowering. For the longest vase life, it is best to harvest them just before the florets open. Then they last up to 14 days in a vase.

Persicaria Alba
This species of knotweed originates from the Himalayas and China, where it grows in scrub and on mountain meadows along streams at high altitudes. It forms sturdy clumps of fresh green, pointed leaves. Above them, upright, narrow, candle-like inflorescences composed of individual tiny flowers appear from summer onwards. It is a very popular perennial, recently bred into many cultivars and used in Western Europe in larger park and garden landscaping. It excels with a long flowering period in late summer and good durability in a vase. It was voted Perennial of the Season 2023 by the Czech Perennials Association. The white variety Alba stands out particularly well against a darker background and has long-lasting flowers.

Phlox Fujiyama
Phlox is originally a native perennial of North America. In European gardens, it soon reached great popularity and has been systematically bred since the 19th century. It is a classic perennial for cutting into bouquets, where besides colorful flowers, it also delights with a gentle fragrance. We harvest as soon as roughly half of the flowers in the cluster have bloomed, then it lasts up to 10 days in a vase. Despite efforts to breed the most resistant cultivars possible, it is still true that phlox reacts extremely sensitively to climate and soil conditions, so we carefully ensure the correct choice of site. Fujiyama is now a classic and still popular variety bred in the USA in 1965. The elegant flowers are tiny, pure white. It blooms very abundantly.

Chasmanthium is one of the most charming ornamental grasses, bringing movement and a gentle rustling sound to the garden. It originates from the eastern part of North America, where it naturally grows in light, damp forests or on the banks of streams, so it is best suited to partial shade and humous, non-drying soil. Its greatest adornments are the flat spikelets resembling small fish, which hang from arched, drooping stems and change color throughout the season from fresh green through beige to warm copper tones, while the leaves turn golden-yellow in autumn. Chasmanthium is an excellent choice for cutting into fresh bouquets, where it adds airiness, and it looks even better dried, retaining its shape and color for a long time. Furthermore, it is a fully frost-hardy perennial that easily handles winters and will please any grower with its low-maintenance nature.

The common columbine is a versatile perennial that will reliably inhabit both rural and modern flowerbeds. In the wild, it grows on the edges of forests and in light groves across all of Europe, which is why it thrives best in the garden in full sun to partial shade and ordinary loamy soil rich in humus. Its main charm lies in its unusually shaped flowers, but it is also valuable for its very early sprouting green leaves, which awaken the garden after winter. You will receive a beautifully grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant to your chosen spot. Although the plant is poisonous, it represents a huge asset for gardeners. Even complete beginners can manage growing it, pests avoid it, and it easily survives severe frosts dropping to minus thirty-four degrees.
During May and June, delicate flowers bloom on sturdy, sixty to eighty-centimeter-tall stems, bringing typical airiness and lightness to the planting. The 'Kristall' cultivar is a large-flowered variety that stands out with pure white flowers and prominent spurs. These act as a reliable magnet for bees, bumblebees, and other beneficial pollinators. Keep in mind that in a favorable location, columbine very willingly self-seeds, taking care of natural-looking wild stands. It works well in perennial beds and as an undergrowth beneath taller shrubs.
If you like bringing a piece of the garden home, columbine certainly won't disappoint you. It is perfectly suited for cutting and will bring a novel structure to spring bouquets. Fresh flowers will bring you joy in a vase for about seven days. If you leave some of the flowers to finish blooming on the flowerbed, they will form interesting seed pods, which are highly popular among florists for creating various natural decorations and can also be dried well. Just watch out for the occasional occurrence of powdery mildew during the drier months, but otherwise, the plant needs almost no care.

Obedient plant is native to the eastern regions of North America, where it naturally lines riverbanks and wet meadows. Thanks to its origin, it loves the sun but requires plenty of moisture, so it will thrive in humus-rich and clay soils that do not dry out. It forms upright and dense shrubby clumps that slowly spread into the surroundings through root runners, creating a nice closed stand in the flowerbed over time. Its flowers have the shape of a slender spike with four rows of tubular blooms that resemble Snapdragons in shape and attract bees and bumblebees. The Bouquet Rose variety will delight you with a sweet purple-pink color that will brighten the garden in August, September, and October. For florists, this perennial is a late-summer treasure. We harvest it as soon as the first flowers open in the inflorescence; in a vase, they then willingly continue to bloom and stay fresh for ten to fourteen days. The White Pearl Jacob's ladder presents an elegant yet very resilient perennial that overwinters without problems in our conditions. The original species grows in damp habitats from Europe to Siberia, making it an ideal plant for humus-rich and moister soils. If you have a spot in the garden that is not explicitly dry, Jacob's ladder will reward you with vital growth and abundant blooming. Its leaves are divided and arranged so regularly that they resemble the rungs of a ladder. This is where its common name, Jacob's ladder, comes from. During June and July, stems with pure white flowers adorned with delicate yellow stamens tower above the clumps of leaves. The White Pearl variety grows to a height of around 80 centimeters and looks very airy in perennial beds. It is perfectly suited for partially shaded areas but will also tolerate sun if provided with regular watering. The flowers are a magnet for bees and other beneficial insects. Floristically, Jacob's ladder is valuable for its longevity and decorative appearance. We cut the stems the moment the first third of the flowers has bloomed, so they last as long as possible in a vase, which is usually seven to ten days. Larkspur Benary’s Pacific Galahad is an unmissable classic and a true dominant feature among border perennials. Its wild ancestors originate from the mountain meadows and light forests of the Northern Hemisphere, so even in the garden, it will appreciate a sunny location and well-drained, yet nutrient-rich loamy and humous soil with plenty of moisture. You will receive a mature seedling in a pot from us, which just needs to be transplanted directly into the flowerbed, ideally at a spacing of sixty centimeters, so that it has enough clear space around it for growth. It belongs among plants for intermediate growers, because for its majestic growth to a height of one hundred to one hundred and fifty centimeters, it needs regular fertilizing and copious watering. It is also good to watch out for snails and slugs, which like to feast on its young leaves, and throughout the season to protect the plant from powdery mildew. Larkspur is fully frost-resistant and can handle temperatures dropping to minus thirty-four degrees without difficulty. The snow-white flowers reliably attract bees as well as other beneficial pollinators and are an excellent choice for cutting into vases. If you dry the flowers, they serve excellently for floristic purposes and will retain their shape and fresh color for a long time.

In its native range on the damp meadows of North America, it forms dense stands, which is why even in the garden it will appreciate a sunny to semi-shady spot with nutritious, humous, and sufficiently moist soil, whether it is loamy or clayey. You will receive a beautifully grown potted seedling from us, which you just need to transplant to your chosen spot. Here, it will quickly form a massive clump of sturdy, dark red-purple stems that grow up to two meters tall and do not need support. During the summer, from July to September, huge flat inflorescences up to twenty-five centimeters in diameter open at their tops. These light purple to pink flowers emit a pleasant fragrance and act as a literal magnet for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. It is a completely undemanding plant avoided by pests and diseases, and it easily survives even very severe frosts well below minus thirty degrees.
