Thalictrum aquilegiifolium

Columbine meadow-rue is a charming perennial that looks like a fluffy colored cloud in the garden. Its species name refers to the striking resemblance of its leaves to columbines; they are finely divided, grayish-green, and very decorative even before flowering. Originally, this species grows in moister open forests and meadows of Europe and Asia, which is why it will also thrive in your garden in humus-rich and non-drying soil in full sun or partial shade. In June and July, the plant drapes itself in a veil of tiny blossoms, consisting mainly of conspicuous clusters of stamens without petals. These fluffy inflorescences in shades of lilac and light pink attract a multitude of pollinators and bees. Thanks to its height, which can exceed one meter, it is perfectly suited for the background of perennial beds, to which it adds lightness, height, and airiness. The flowers are also excellent for cutting into a vase, where they stay fresh and act as a delicate filler material. It is a long-lived and completely frost-resistant plant suitable even for beginners; you just need to keep in mind that it is poisonous.

Thalictrum delavayi

Meadow rue Album originates from western China, where it grows in the wild on mountain plains and in scrubland alongside other tall perennials. In the garden, it has a very light and airy feel. From a distance, it resembles fine white lace, thanks not only to its tiny white flowers with prominent yellow stamens but also to its pinnate green leaves. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which just needs to be transplanted to your chosen spot. It will do best in partial shade or full sun in humus-rich, loamy soil. We recommend planting three to five plants per square meter at a distance of about sixty centimeters. It will soon form an airy clump that will easily reach a height of one hundred to one hundred and fifty centimeters. Although it looks very fragile, it is a hardy and long-lived perennial that requires no support and effortlessly handles even harsh frosts dropping to minus thirty-four degrees. A big advantage is that it does not suffer from pests or diseases, so even absolute beginners can easily manage growing it. During the summer and early autumn, when it blooms in loose panicles on thin purple stems, it attracts the attention of pollinators from far and wide. Its delicate stems will also serve excellently in summer bouquets. Fresh, it will last approximately seven days in a vase and add the desired volume to the arrangement. Conversely, it is not suitable for drying. Also, do not forget that the entire plant is poisonous, so handle it carefully when cutting.
