Mini Flower Garden

The blue cornflower is an absolute classic of our fields and meadows, which probably needs no lengthy introduction. However, the 'Tall Double Blue Boy' variety brings something extra. Compared to its wild relatives that we see along roads, it boasts rich flowers in an unmistakable, deep blue shade, sometimes with a purple tone. You can hardly imagine anything more meadow-like. Thanks to its strong stems growing up to eighty centimeters tall, this annual is perfectly suited for cutting, adding true rustic charm to bouquets. But its use doesn't end in the vase. The flowers keep their fantastic color even after drying! At weddings, we loved using them in flower crowns and corsages, where they have excellent stamina! The petals are edible. They serve perfectly as an original garnish for summer salads, desserts, or festive cakes. Moreover, in the garden, it functions as a reliable magnet for bees and bumblebees, who simply go crazy for its nectar.

Although correctly it is the Chinese hound's tongue, on the farm we don't call it anything other than forget-me-not! Unlike the classic water forget-me-not that we all know, this species has massive and long stems perfectly suited for binding. The color is a very fresh and distinct blue. Each plant produces 6-8 stems, and if you let some fade and ripen, seeds are easily collected.

Larkspurs are spring beauties that nothing compares to. However, if you want to harvest them for cut flowers, you must be vigilant and harvest quickly before all the buds open. They finish blooming quickly, especially during the warm springs of recent years, so we sow several batches 14 days apart just to keep up with the harvest. Larkspur QIS White is a soft white that fits beautifully into wedding floristry. You harvest one stronger stem and 4-5 smaller side stems from a single plant.

The Kiiro cultivar represents an unusually charming variant of the very popular classic Cosmos. Its flowers continuously shine with unusual shades of pastel yellow and white color, making it an exceptional feature for any summer garden. The plant forms airy small bushes with thread-like leaves and reaches an impressive height of 60 to 120 centimeters. From June to September, it produces an incredible flood of flowers that unerringly attract plenty of pollinators to the garden. In garden design, it is excellently applied in mixed flower beds in full sun or in light partial shade with medium watering. Due to its height and the fragility of the stems, it is advisable to think about early support. Cosmos are prized in floristry because they add a unique airiness to bouquets. Moreover, they willingly self-seed in the flower bed for the next season. Starting to grow this annual from seeds is easy even for novices. Plan your sowing from April to July. Always cover the seeds with a thin layer of substrate. They germinate willingly and very quickly, usually within 4 to 8 days. Pinch the seedlings in time to create a bushier plant.

For drying, harvest in full bloom when the stem below the flower is firm. Just hang them upside down in a dry and ventilated place, out of direct sunlight.

Warm pink, that is the shade of 'QIS Rose'. We love all flowers here that grow ready to be dried and are suitable for wedding crafting or any kind of arranging. And Globe amaranth belongs to this group. It is not a cut flower that breaks records. Its advantage lies in the flower, which is tiny and straw-like. For drying, we harvest colored, round heads in full bloom. Once the inflorescence starts to elongate, it is too late for drying. Just hang them upside down in a dry and ventilated place, away from sunlight.

The classic of our grandmothers' gardens has gained a new flair. Double-flowered Marigold! 'Pacific Beauty Apricot' features shades of orange, yellow, to apricot.

You can't imagine anything more meadow-like! It is a terrible shame that it can only be grown at lower temperatures. The Tall Double series is a fuller-flowered Cornflower than the one we see along the roadsides. Pinkie is a shade of light baby pink.
