Soft Spring Colors

A collection of spring flowers in soft colors. For a spring full of beautiful soft flowers, you must sow the species gradually. We sow Cornflower, corncockle, Larkspur, Ammi, Nigella, cow soapwort, and cress directly onto the bed as soon as the soil thaws and can be worked with (in our conditions in March). Alternatively, you can start already in autumn, sow everything into the bed at the end of September; seedlings will germinate, survive the winter, and bloom early in spring. Similarly, with bellflowers, pinks, forget-me-nots, and foxgloves, you can start in autumn; sow at the beginning of September and then transplant to the final habitat. For spring sowing, it is necessary to start as early as December or January. Sweet rocket is a perennial, but it blooms very early in spring. Almost the first blooming perennial after early spring bulbs. Sowing therefore also in autumn, and then it will bloom the next year in spring. Species like summer stock or Iceland poppy are best pre-grown. You will find detailed instructions on every seed package. We recommend always following the sowing instructions on every single seed package. Show full description

Vaccaria Pink Beauty, Loukykvět

Saponaria vaccaria

An interesting name and an unusual flower resembling baby's breath. The rich blooms on the stems invite you to divide them into several smaller vases to decorate a windowsill. It finishes blooming quickly, so we recommend succession planting. You will harvest 3-4 stems from a single plant.

Stock Katz Apricot, Loukykvět

Matthiola incana

Stock is a wonderful cut flower! It likes low temperatures, yet we grow three batches a year – two in spring and one in autumn. You harvest just one bloom per plant, but it is a really large, double one. Stock smells beautiful, almost intoxicating, and lasts a long time in a vase. The flowers are edible. The Katz series is not as susceptible to temperature changes, and is generally easier to grow for beginning gardeners. However, this comes at the cost of thinner stems and a lower percentage of double flowers. Katz Apricot is the most beautiful shade of skin-tone apricot. All stocks produce some plants with double flowers and some single. The ratio is different for each series. Katz has 55-60% double-flowered plants. We therefore recommend growing a bit more. At our farm, however, we use the single ones too; they look super unique.

Didiscus Lacy White, Loukykvět

Didiscus caerulea

Delicate white lace. Didiscus has a peculiar name, but it is a real beauty, similar to Ammi or ornamental carrot. The blooms are disc-shaped with tiny florets. Didiscus finishes blooming relatively quickly, much like Ammi or ornamental carrot, so we recommend succession sowing. It likes warmth, so it can even be sown in summer.

Columbine Rose Barlow, Loukykvět

Aquilegia vulgaris

The Barlow series is our favorite columbine because the flowers are double-flowered! We grow columbines on our farm as annuals, so we sow new ones every year. This saves space and we achieve longer stems. We grow part of the columbines in a polytunnel so we catch the harvest for Mother's Day, when flowers are scarce. Rose Barlow is a beautiful color combination where the flower centers are sweet pink and the outsides and stems are slightly purplish.

Foxglove is the princess and Snapdragon is the prince. At least in appearance. Noble, delicate and airy. It creates a beautiful effect in bouquets as well as in the flower bed. Dalmatin Peach is a wonderful shade of light peach, which is a trendy color!

Campanula medium

Bellflowers are a great harvest on our farm! We harvest two batches per season and they sell out immediately. They have a beautiful meadow-like feel. One plant produces one strong branching central stem with lots of little bells; after cutting, you can harvest a few more thin single-bell stems.

Dianthus Dynasty White Blush, Loukykvět

Dianthus barbatus

Beautiful fragrance, long stems, and delicate flowers. The Carnation is our spring favorite. It has proven best for us to plant in the polytunnel already in autumn, then in spring you harvest a flood of meter-long stems. From spring sowings, stems are radically shorter. Dynasty "White Blush" features tiny white flowers with occasional delicate pink veining. From one plant you will harvest at least 10 full-sized stems.

Poppy Champagne Bubbles White, Loukykvět

Papaver nudicaule

Poppies of the Champagne Bubbles series are perennials. For us, a great and affordable variant of Iceland poppies! Poppy Champagne Bubbles White blooms in shades of pure white. If we wanted to compare the Colibri and Champagne Bubbles series, the first difference is that Colibri are annuals. But the advantages of the Champagne Bubbles series don't end there—they are also more financially affordable than the Italian Colibri version, have better germination, the seeds are even directly treated for better germination. And we also promise ourselves they won't be sold out as often because they aren't bred in Italy, and thus communication and delivery times won't be so "Italian". But now the disadvantages: compared to Colibri, they don't have such large flowers, the stems are less robust, and some color variants are missing. But all in all, that makes them a great poppy!

Cress Common, Loukykvět
For drying

Lepidium sativum

The cress blooms beautifully and gently; after blooming, it creates wonderful tiny coins on the stems and is suitable for drying! It is the same type of cress as for sprouting, so you can use it in both ways! The basic type of cress, it is also the shortest of all in our assortment. But don't worry, it is long enough for cutting! For drying, we harvest the cress when the stem is firm with mature coins. Do not delay drying too long for a beautiful golden color, otherwise the color turns grey. Just hang them upside down in a dry and ventilated place, out of sunlight.
