Ornamental grasses

Ornamental grasses bring constant movement and lightness to flower beds. Their delicate spikes and fluffy inflorescences complement bolder flowers beautifully, creating a natural feel in the garden. We love growing them in larger groups, where their leaves and stems can mingle nicely into a single, cohesive whole. For us, they are absolutely indispensable when arranging bouquets. The varied shapes of the stems add depth and interesting detail to arrangements. They are perfect for wedding bouquets, wreaths, or simply standing alone in a vase. Most varieties are also suitable for drying. Just harvest them at the right time, hang them head-down in a dry, ventilated place, and you can continue creating with them even in winter. You can easily grow many grasses from seed. If you are just starting out with gardening, our guide on direct sowing or basic tips on how to sow plants into seedling trays will be helpful. Grasses don't need much complex care, and they will grow into beautiful plants full of fine details.

Bunny Tails, Loukykvět
For drying

Lagurus ovatus

A florist classic: the cute, velvety bunny tail grass. It is great for drying, but we think it looks most beautiful while still green. We use it to make wedding buttonholes, in wreaths, simply everywhere. One plant produces at least 20 stems. For drying, harvest when the flowers are fully developed but not yet dry and brown. Just hang them upside down in a dry, ventilated place out of direct sunlight.

Foxtail Millet Max, Loukykvět

Setaria italica

Millet is used in bird feed, but we discovered that it is a beautiful cut flower! If you plant it in the garden for decoration, you can feed the local birds with it right away. The spikes are large and compact with 'buns' full of fruits and grains. The spike bends, which creates an interesting effect in bouquets. For drying, we harvest when the buds are just starting to open. In full bloom, the flower heads fall apart. Just hang them upside down in a dry and ventilated place, out of direct sunlight.

Millet QIS Umbrella, Loukykvět

Panicum miliaceum

There are never enough grasses; you need lots of them if you tie bouquets, and they look beautiful in ornamental beds in the garden too. Umbrella is a very nice type of millet. The ears bend after ripening and create a waterfall effect. The fruits are larger, beautifully visible little balls. Such a waterfall of beads.
