Amsonia tabernaemontana

The 'Blue Ice' amsonia comes from the eastern regions of the United States, where it grows on moister grassy plains. It will bring a refreshing sky-blue color to your garden, appearing right at the turn of May and June. You will receive a mature potted seedling from us, which simply needs to be transplanted into humous loamy soil in the sun or partial shade. It is an absolutely undemanding perennial that is not bothered by pests or diseases and reliably survives even very severe frosts. Its fresh green leaves resemble a willow and turn into mustard-yellow tones in the autumn. The 'Blue Ice' cultivar is compact, growing to about forty centimeters, and will fit perfectly into mixed beds, where it reliably attracts bees. Amsonia is also excellent for cutting into vases. The stems ooze white sap when injured, so slightly singe them with a flame after cutting. The water in the vase will then remain clean, and the flowers will bring you joy for up to ten days. Just keep in mind that the plant is poisonous.

Amsonia hubrichtii

Are you looking for a reliable and uncommon perennial that will enliven your garden with blue flowers and surprise you with vibrant colors in autumn? Amsonia hubrichtii is exactly that choice. It originates from the eastern regions of North America, where it naturally grows on sunny and slightly moist grassy plains. You will purchase a mature seedling in a pot directly from us, so you can immediately transplant it into the garden upon delivery. The ideal spacing between individual plants is about forty centimeters. Caring for it is extremely easy, so even beginners can handle planting it without any worries. It does not suffer from pests or diseases and reliably overwinters in our conditions as a long-lived perennial, because it handles frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees without problems. It will thrive particularly in humous and loamy soil in direct sunlight with good watering. The hubrichtii species is completely exceptional among perennials for its fine texture. It has very narrow, almost needle-like green leaves, thanks to which the plant, growing to fifty to seventy centimeters, looks incredibly airy. In June and July, it produces a flood of tiny flowers in a heavenly light blue tone. But the real show comes in autumn, when the entire plant turns into an unmissable mustard-yellow color. In the flowerbed, it thus creates a beautiful contrast to late-blooming species. It will also find its place in summer vases. Given that the stems exude a milky sap after cutting, you just need to briefly sear the cut over a flame, immediately place it in water, and it will stay fresh for approximately ten days.

Amsonia ciliata

Amsonia is a fully frost-resistant and absolutely healthy plant that is not attacked by any pests, so truly anyone can handle growing it. It stands out perfectly in mixed perennial beds or as a fresh element in a sunny spot or in partial shade. Try giving the plants a spacing of around forty to fifty centimeters; they will soon naturally blend together. Prepare for the amsonia to transform its appearance throughout the entire year. While in spring it surprises with dark sprouting shoots, in May and June it blooms with tiny blue flowers, to which pollinators flock from far and wide. Furthermore, its thin green leaves take on striking mustard-yellow colors in autumn. Florists very much like using this plant for its unusual light shade in spring and summer bouquets. It is necessary to keep in mind that the poisonous stems exude a white milky sap when cut. However, just sear them briefly over a flame, put them immediately into a vase, and they will keep you happy and fresh for up to ten days.
