Geranium macrorrhizum

Strongly aromatic leaves and the ability to grow almost anywhere make big-root cranesbill an absolute staple of natural and cottage gardens. In its homeland, which is primarily the mountains of the Balkan Peninsula and the southern Alps, it inhabits rocky slopes as well as damper forest margins. This is the source of its extraordinary resilience and great habitat tolerance. It grows vigorously and happily in direct sun, light partial shade, and full shade. This species stands out mainly for its compact clumping growth with a height of around thirty centimeters. It quickly forms closed stands, which means its dense leaves cover the area so perfectly that they give unwanted weeds no chance. From May to June, these deep green cushions burst into bloom with a multitude of radiant, purplish-pink to carmine flowers. These provide very valuable forage for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies during the peak of spring. Cranesbill flowers generally have no use in floristry, but they bring all the more colorful joy right in the garden. A huge advantage of this long-lived perennial is its absolute lack of maintenance and self-sufficiency. It does not require support, avoids diseases and common garden pests completely, and survives even the harshest freezing winters without the slightest difficulty. Furthermore, in the fall it puts on a beautiful color transformation, when some of the leaves take on a fiery red hue. It looks fantastic bordering pathways, on the edges of mixed plantings, or as a continuous green carpet under mature trees.

Geranium clarkei

Geranium 'Kashmir White' is an enchanting perennial that will bring softness and tranquility to the garden. It comes from mountain meadows and forest edges in the regions of the Himalayas and Kashmir. From there, it is adapted to harsher conditions; it is an unusually resilient plant that easily survives frosts dropping to minus twenty-eight degrees. You will receive a well-rooted seedling in a pot from us, which just needs to be transplanted straight into the flower bed. It thrives best in the sun or partial shade, in well-drained and humous soil. It grows to fifty centimeters and grows compactly, so it does not need support. The 'Kashmir White' cultivar is decorated during the summer with pure white flowers that contrast beautifully with the deep green leaves. It is excellently suited for the edges of flower beds or as undergrowth beneath taller shrubs. During blooming, it acts as a lure for bees and bumblebees. It is an undemanding long-lived plant avoided by pests and diseases. It is not suitable for cutting into a vase or drying; it will bring you the most joy naturally growing in the garden.

Geranium pratense

Meadow cranesbill is a native European perennial that you can naturally encounter in moist meadows and forest edges from Europe to Central Asia. It is an extremely hardy and long-lived plant that will reliably settle in your garden too. It is easy to grow and forgives even minor mistakes by beginner gardeners. After planting, the seedling quickly forms a strong clump. From May to July, it opens its beautiful cup-shaped flowers, which are literally a magnet for bees, bumblebees, and other beneficial pollinators. It thrives best in a sunny or semi-shady location with well-draining, loamy, and humus-rich soil that retains adequate moisture. It is excellently utilized in mixed perennial beds, adding a natural and slightly wild look to them. Cranesbill is not very suitable for cutting into a vase or for drying, but it puts on all the more of a show right in the bed, where it does not suffer from any common diseases or pests. The Storm Cloud cultivar stands out with an absolutely mesmerizing combination of blue-purple flowers and deeply lobed leaves. These change color during the season from dark green through bronze to deep purple.
